He wanted a long pole with a hook, to reach up to pull down the palm fronds that were on their way out on our backyard palms. Nothing so far had worked, and while I grew up in the Caribbean, I never learnt how to climb coconut palm trees like some of the boys did. ;) This hook is strong and works like a charm for what we needed. This does not fit on my poles which are US made and have standard 3/4"-5 Acme threads. I can't even get the threads started.Update: This hook does not fit my US made Sherlock-Wooster extension poles and a few other acme poles that I have. I believe the problem is this hook is designed to fit snugly on the boat poles sold by TelesPro and all of my poles have less polished threads and it is just too tight to fit. The seller did reach out and went above and beyond to be sure I had a positive experience. Great customer service with fast response time.

This is a straight forward replacement for virtually any standard boat hook/pole combination. Simply unscrew the existing broken boat hook and thread this on. No problem. This boat hook combo is a standard arrangement with all the versatility traditionally expected from this design. The hook itself is a tough Anne durable plastic, not metal. Therefore it can be broken but the plastic material seems quite strong and durable

Atypical use, but perfect for what I needed. My husband maintains our backyard inground pool with the help of a robotic cleaner. The cleaner works great but he has a bad back so has trouble getting it out of the pool to clean the filters. I attached this to a telescoping pole and now he can easily grab the cord in the pool and pull the cleaner up without needing to bend all the way down to the water level. I know this is not the intended use and the hook may degrade quicker due to exposure to the chlorine in the pool water, but so far it has performed flawlessly. I wish the hook portion was a little further out, but this is made for grabbing ropes not robotic pool cleaners so I'll have to give it marks based on it's intended use not my usage. At any rate it works great and I'm sure it would for grabbing docking ropes as well.

I have a boat but I did not have a boat hook! Now I'll be able to dock more easily. I like that it has multiple options for pushing off, or pulling the boat in, or for hooking dropped things such as dock lines. I mean, they didn't invent this wheel, but they were true to the design and I needed one.I note another reviewer had problems with the thread. My thread looks good, and maybe the other reviewer had poles with mismatched threads?I did order a pole for changing light bulbs; the thread for that looks very similar but it does not fit that pole. I had a pole in my boat, which looks like a painter's extension pole, and it fits that thread perfectly. A little tight, but that's what you need...you don't want the hook falling off in the water. I assume it floats, but since it's black, it'll probably be lost to Davy Jones' locker since it is black. I'd like to see this in a flourescent (yes, essence of flour) colour.

I tried installing this hook on 3 different telescopic poles with the same size threads but for some reason it only fit on one. Not sure whats going on there but i was glad it at least fit on one.

Does not fit on standard broom handle or painters pole not sure what this fits on. Completely useless,waste of money.
