The reception is very good in AM, FM, and WB. In the latter two cases, the reception is acceptable even with the telescopic antenna retracted. Sound quality from the loudspeaker is reasonably good, probably thanks to the 2" speaker, which I guess is the largest possible to be fit in such a small enclosure. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase.

REPLACEMENT for same radio except the first one was quirky. Really happy to get this radio, as it has all the features to make it my new, do-all radio. The alarm clock and NOAA weather radio will be great on trips. Entertainment with the AM/FM receiver. This radio works right out of the box. Good, crisp sound, auto search/scan on FM and AM is handy, auto alert for weather bulletins, backlight, clock and alarm to radio or buzzer. Two AA batteries and it works with rechargeables. I'm going to enjoy this!

Does exactly what I expected. Weather Band worked very well about 200 kl north of Toronto in the middle of nowhere. Too bad the fashing light switch and alarm is part of the flashlight switch. Have to get used to turning it off the flashlight without turning on the alarm. It's fine...

I purchased this winner after reading numerous reviews and watching videos from dedicated consumers such as todderbert on YouTube. It arrived on time and the price was reasonable. I fired it up this morning while having a cup and listening to the woods wake. Mastering this radio was done before my coffee could cool done. Kudos to the engineers who developed this unit. The radios run on AA batteries unlike the current trend of operating on oddball sizes that must be purchased online. The width is a perfect size for operating one-handed. The volume and tuning thumbwheels are on opposite sides so there is no need to look to see where you have to go to adjust the sound or tuning. Many radios cram buttons and wheels close together so a unit can be compact. You have to look to make certain what you are adjusting is the correct location. Love the fact that this design is so simple in that respect. The print on the front case is very clear and concise. There are three presets each for AM and FM but my choices are somewhat limited in the holler so this is fine for the purpose of this purchase. Reception indoors is not good but is good outside. I am cool with this as it is the norm around here. I have other radios for indoor use that work well with a loop antenna and a cheap extension cord with the ends cut off and clipped on the antenna. Your reception in a more urban area will more than likely be better than a rural area. The digital display was very important to me and it doesn't fail there either. The numbers are large and clear. This radio will delight you if you don't need a powerhouse unit. One of my favorites to date!

Not sure what else to say. Put in batteries and it found all the AM, FM and weather band stations I checked and I would listen too in case of the zombie apocalypse. Compact with decent sound quality. I'm not looking to use for a house party, but if I find myself under house debris after a tornado hit and I want to find out if it was indeed a tornado that touched down, i feel confident I can use this radio to find out. My first complaint is that the rechargeable AA batteries I used seem to be fatter than normal AA batteries and the battery cover was tough to close and isn't as flush as if I use normal AA batteries. My second complaint is that the LED still displays the time when turned off. Which annoys me a bit, but as I didn't do too much research before I bought it I won't deduct a star. I was able to use without the instructions, so I'm sure I'm only unleashing 50% of what if can do.It's also worth noting that I was able to pick up stations without extending the antenna. I was afraid of poking my eye out so I left it down while testing. It seems to pretty durable as well. I tested it immediately upon opening the box as it slipped out of the pouch (pouch opening was upside down), tried to catch it but instead, hit to across the table, hit the wooden chair back, fell down on the padded seat, thought it would settle on the seat....it did not, bounced up and hit the side of the table, hit and adjacent chair leg, then hit the tile floor...face down. Picked it up while cursing, put in the batteries (cover didn't close tight....see above), cursed some more, set time on radio, turned on, with all that happened decided against extending antenna (again, see above), was able to find all the stations, tested most of what I could think of without instructions, felt better, turned off (time still visible...see above...cursed), but back in box to store until needed, accidentally dropped box, cursed, opened again...still working!

This is an excellent radio. Over a period of several decades I have owned several small radios. Not surprisingly, technological advances have resulted in considerable improvement. This is a very small radio, an easy fit for a shirt pocket. Despite its small size the sound is clear whether at low or high volume. The sound quality for most music is generally very good, though less so for classical music. I have not made use of the buzzer alarm, but when set for having the radio sound for the alarm it works very well. And, very important for a sound sleeper, the volume is very loud. It continues for about 10 or 12 minutes before going off. Instructions for setting the alarm can be improved. Initially, I had considerable difficulty setting the alarm for “radio” instead of “buzzer.” However, once I solved this problem, setting the alarm became easy. Another reviewer mentioned the similarity between this radio and one sold under the “Geson” label. Both radios are currently available. I have both. Sound on the Geson is also excellent. The volume is more that enough for ordinary listening. However, FM sound isn’t quite as loud as on the Ledianer, so the alarm, if set for a FM station might not be quite as effective for a very sound sleeper. However, with both radios, AM sound is very loud. On the Geson radio, the alarm does not stop until it is manually shut off. I haven’t much use for the Alarm weather function, but I had no trouble locating a “weather” station and the sound is clear. I can’t imagine another small radio, regardless of cost, being superior to this one. I haven’t clocked it, but I have made considerable use of these radios and battery life for both of them appears to be very good.
