I'm on my third set with these playing ball hockey. First one lasted like 10 years. Went through the second one in 2 years. They are very protective and comfortable. Need a tape roll or two to hold them effectively in place.

They work well and are reasonably comfortable according to my son. We got the small size and they fit him just fine (maybe 1" to long). He's 12 years old, skinny, and 5'3". The bottom edge touches his skates and there probably should be a very small gap to help with maneuverability. But, he'll grow 1/4" by next weekend, I'm sure!

The same design as Mylec used 15 years ago when I bought a pair. Why mess with success!? These will always be the most affordable, most comfortable, and lightest shin pads on the market.NOTE: these are only good for deck (ball) hockey and roller hockey. An ice hockey puck would definitely leave bruises and the cold temperature from the rink might even make the plastic brittle enough to crack when hit with a puck or stick.

These are the standard shin pads most people use. Arrived quickly and a fair price.

Bittersweet. Cheap and they've taken a beating. However, if you want to get an idea of how hot they are, wrap your legs in trash bags and go run a 10k. Also, I personally have a really hard time keeping them up where they belong. Knees get exposed easily. In the winter I wear hockey socks over them and tape them but the summer is brutal on all levels. Not many better options though. For the price they're hard to beat, but I would pay 3x as much for something more breathable that stayed up.

They're great. I am now fearless when blocking shots and going into corners. Helped my game immensely. I do agree however with one of the previous commenters that the straps may not last very long, but I'll cross that bridge when I cross it.

they come as advertised and shown. Padding / foam is good. I'm 6 feet tall and find the large a little short still, use in competitive ball hockey league. Not really impressed with the elastic bands and clips on the back, I can't foresee them lasting too long playing a couple times a week. Shell is good protection, much better then shin pads and knee pads (other than being short and not enough coverage above knee) Would like to see a ankle cover similar to soccer shin pads. Definitely need to wear a long sock or hockey sock underneath as the foam has no cloth covering like knee pads and shins pads so they stick and get sweaty/wet. The price is right though, for 30$ you couldn't buy nice knees pads and soccer shins. I give it 4 based on price and would buy again. A couple little improvements would make it awesome...

These pads are fantastic. I ended up with a gigantic black bruise on my leg by stepping between a former NHLer and the goal, and it convinced me that I really need more padding than just soccer shinguards. I bought a pair of ice hockey pads, but they were too heavy and wouldn't stay up. These Mylec shin pads were awesome - they stay in place (elastic straps hold them in place, although I really wish they had more elastic straps), are lightweight so you can run in them, and they stop a stick. Several guys in our league has these same pads now, they just work perfectly for the job.Edit: I *really* wish they had more elastic straps - I think my pair was seriously short, looking at other people with the same pair of pads. It makes them slide around a bit. I only have 3 straps on one leg, and 4 straps on the other. There are fastening knobs for 5 straps on each leg.

The upside of these pads are that they are lightweight, durable, and cheap as dirt. As far as protection goes, the pads really do hold up to a lot. The deck league I play uses a street puck, and I've taken some hard slappers square on the shin without any pain or bruises whatsoever. They stay in place well with the simple, cheap, yet effective straps. The downside is that they breathe worse than a fish out of water! I drilled several 1/4" holes into them and started wearing soccer socks underneath to try to keep my legs from sweating too much. I think it has helped, but they still do get a bit too warm. The pads are also quite rigid. Around the shins, that doesn't matter. But around the knees, they don't move very well. Often the top of the pad will stick out when your leg is bent, and then they will clamp on to your pants when you straighten it back out again. There is another reviewer (S. Anderson) who gave some good notes about the sizing. No need to add anything new here - I found that very helpful and agree with what was written. For the price I paid, I still am inclined to rate these pads highly. I doubt you can find anything in this price range that can compete with what these pads offer. If you're looking to save some money, they will certainly serve their purpose.Nevertheless, I think I will be investing in some nicer pads next season.

Am using these for ball hockey but would seriously consider using them for ice hockey due to their durable construction and weight. Feels like you are wearing next to nothing and allows you to play with confidence knowing that if an errant stick hit to the shins occurs...................you definitely will not feel it.

SIZING ....these were too small. kid's size. i first ordered the mediums.so i returned them and got the larges. the larges are adult size. Larges weren't just longer, they were also bigger. the knee shape was much bigger on the Larges.SMALLS - 11" - is from the middle of the kneecap. I didn't order these. Knee cap size is small.MEDIUM - 13" - is from the middle of the kneecap. These are small. Knee cap size is small.LARGES - 15" - they are bigger. These are more than 2" bigger than the mediums. there are maybe 3" bigger than mediums. Knee cap size is bigger than the other sizes.EXTRA LARGE - there is no extra large.EXTRA SMALL - the material could probably be cut easily.i'm 6'0" tall with short legs (i'm told)the straps take a good 10 - 15 minutes to setup.they're light. i'll be using these for ball hockey. these are the same you'll find in the stores.
