Good durable mat cutter. I got this for hubby as he's the one into the mat cutting. He said it's good and durable and well made. Great gift for anyone into practicing the art of the katana.

An OK stand for cutting practice, but it will take some adjustment to make it work best. While it came with no assembly instructions, it was simple enough to figure out. However, the holes for the long bolts that hold the feet on were not deep enough for the length of the bolt. I had to drill them out to get the bolts to tighten up. You could cut the bolts down, but I found it easier to drill the holes deeper to accommodate them. The spike at the top to hold your target or tatami on is very loose. This may be so it falls out if hit by the sword instead of damaging an edge, but it makes it hard for it to hold the target in place. I'm planing to fill in the hole that it goes in and replacing it with a smaller tighter spike.Overall, this is serviceable, but I think it would be better if designed by someone that actually practiced cutting.

Not all of the screw holes were drilled all the way through. The spike insert is shallow and has nothing to hold it in

Did not come with instructions. The peg hole could be deeper or tighter. But it does the job I was cutting pool noodles with zero issues.

I got the MR Wooden Kendo Tameshigiri Practice Cutting Stand for my wife to use during her practices, and it has been a great addition to her training! This heavy-duty stand is made of 35” natural rubberwood, providing solid support for her cutting tests. It’s sturdy and well-constructed, which gives her confidence as she practices her cuts. Just a heads up, you'll need to get a cutting mat separately for the best setup. Overall, it’s been a fantastic investment for her kendo practice!

I like it is made of beautiful solid quality wood. But as another reviewer said, when slicing reed mats and other targets, there needs to be threading or some way to hold the spike in place. As for assembly, three of the four screws on the bottom were hard to install but doable, the third one was so difficult to install that it broke off inside from the torque and voided the hole. That combined with the mold on the wood that it arrived with, and the spike issue, bespeaks a product that wasn’t fully baked. I’ll give it four stars because it still does work and it is otherwise pretty good quality.

While this tameshigiri stand didn't come with instructions, the pieces were easy enough to put together. Material quality is great and has a good weight for stability. As others have said, the hole for the peg is a bit shallow, but it can be secured better with some shims. Overall, very happy with it.

I am mixed on this cutting stand. As a martial arts instructor, I have a few other stands of my own and have cut on various other designs.on the plus side, the wood feels high quality. The construction is good with metal sleeves inserted for the bolts. There were no instructions, but assembly is obvious. The unit height is good and will suit most sized cutters. Design is well suited for a wide variety of cutting angles. Now for the downside. The spike for the mats is nice and great length. However the hole to slot into the rest of the frame is too shallow (~1 inch deep) and also not tight. You want the spike to be well secured to the frame. This will lead issues holding various cutting materials. Any sort of upward angle cuts has a good chance of sending the mat and spike flying, espectially it the blade angle is off, which is common with new to intermediate cutters. Downward 45 angles should have somewhat less of an issue, but may still be problematic. Also a properly rolled wara or other mat will pull the spike out when you remove it leaving you the 1 inch protrusion to extract.I may try and secure it with some gorilla wood glue, will revise later if that significantly helps.
