You just have to not play with the spring and mess up and stretch it out of shape and they should last for a long time if not forever. It is a nail setter, not a center punch or a hammer, just for setting finishing nails flush or deep set as needed.

As a handyman/carpenter/whatever else these little guys are a must have. They are easy to lose if you're not careful, but Jeez do they come in handy
