With several qualities of a professional shotgun mic packed into a compact lightweight design, it allows for clear dialog capture without compromising your compact setup or getting in the way of your shot.
The microphone itself has a hypercardioid polar pattern that allows it to clearly pick up subjects directly in front of it while strongly rejecting unwanted off-axis sound. Designed for the clear capture of dialog, the VXR1000 is optimized for applications such as capturing interviews both in and outdoors.
A standard windscreen and outdoor wind muff are included.

Product did not work with my camera. The problem could possibly lie on my camera but I’m not so sure.

The box was packaged impressively and I was really excited to use this. I've been recording audio separately on my phone for videos & it sounds good, but it difficult to match up with the video as my camera's mic isn't great. I love that this took a AAA battery - super easy to get and doesn't have to be charged or anything, but the first thing I noticed was that the on/off button was on the back so if you're in front of the camera filming, you can't tell if you forgot to turn the mic on or if it goes dead without getting out of focus (I could tell from the screen, but where the wire is plugged in blocks the audio image on the reversed view finder). I still had high hopes though. I filmed two videos with the mic and when I watched the videos back the audio was 3x worse than the camera's mic alone. I was shocked. For the price I wasn't expecting it to be perfect, but at least for some sort of clarity. Unfortunately, there was a very pronounced static noise, it was louder than my own voice. It took A LOT of editing for me to reduce that sound enough to feel just okay sharing the videos. I was very disappointed and am returning this immediately - I would not recommend. Combining the audio files from voice memos on my phone may be more time consuming, but the quality is so much better.

Ce micro est d'une qualité vraiment mauvaise. Je l'avais choisi pour remplacer un micro cravate premier prix, et il s'avère qu'au final ce micro propose une qualité non seulement moins bonne que celle de mon ancien micro cravate, mais également beaucoup moins bonne que le micro intégré de mon Nikon D3300.Le son du micro est très faible et fait un bruit de grésillement permanent.En définitive j'ai renvoyer ce produit contre remboursement et j'ai acheter autre chose de moins chère et de meilleur qualité... un nouveau micro cravate !

This shotgun mic is a winner.I purchased it a few months ago, and the third time I used it, it began to add a clicking sound to everything recorded with it. I contacted the manufacturer and within a week, I had a brand new mic in my hands. 5 star customer service from Movo, the mic was replaced with no questions asked.My new mic works perfectly.This mic is small, but it still works well. I was expecting something a little larger, but the smaller size makes it more convenient to transport. It will fit into any DSLR/Video Camera with a 3.5mm audio jack, and it hooks in nicely to the top of the camera. Also, the base of the mic has a 1/4 in. hole which lets you mount it to a separate tripod if you care to.Also, the windscreen works well, if it is completely covering the mic. The windscreen made for crystal-clear audio in blistering San Francisco wind.One small downside to this mic is that it chews through batteries. Be sure to bring a few extras because the batteries will go a lot faster than you will expect.The mic doesn't produce professional-grade audio, but for the price, it is a must-have. It works well with my DSLR, and the windscreen is a big PLUS!!

DO NOT buy this microphone if you are using a Canon t3i. I'm not sure about the rest of the t-series, but at least on my camera, the background hissing noise, with or without the "dead cat" wind screen, is awful. The internal microphone is better than this. I have done some research and I do believe that the hissing noise is generally worse with Canon cameras. So I think that this microphone has some potential - I just would certainly not recommend buying it for the t3i, and if I were you, unless you are strongly convinced, I wouldn't take the chance on another Canon camera. Go for a higher quality microphone.

I brought this item because I needed a directional mic, aka shotgon mic and did not want it to be big and in the way like a normal shotgun mic, I also needed it to pick up sound outside with wind as i would be filming a wedding , the dead cat cover worked great for that! While indoor I stood 20 feet away from it and whispered a few words and it was able to clearly hear me, also the gain on this mic is very high so I put the audio input sensitivity on my camera very low (D300s) remember to turn on the mic or you will have zero audio.. For $30 you get apple quality packaging, well built mic, no battery, mic muff and dead cat muff, plus bag for dead cat. Bag is great size for carrying dead cat and in ear headphones.
