This is the second Motorcraft PCV Valve I have purchased from Amazon. PCV valves should be changed every three years. I swap mine out when I replace my spark plugs. A stuck open valve will cause idle problems. A stuck closed valve contributes to engine sludge. They are cheap insurance. While you doing your routine maintenance items check your vacuum lines for cracks and loose connections. I buy my vacuum lines and fittings in bulk from Amazon.

I bought it after reading somewhere that it needs to be replaced at around 100.000 miles, as much as my 03 Explorer has a brand new 4.6 in it, the whole car has over 200.000 k's on it. Now my Explorer runs well and no problems that I kinda knew of, although I thought it ran to rich and was using to much fuel, the other thing I found was that white milky residue in the oil filler neck, and seeing my engine is new and no head gasket problems I did some research and found that milky residue could be there due to a faulty crankcase valve. So I replaced it, and instantly my mileage improved! Engine feels more responsive, and auto shifts smoother and goes into overdrive easier as well, sure I thought everything was fine, but what an improvement by changing this small part. I am sure it will even clear up the milky stuff in the oil filler neck. Installation is very very easy, although you might need to remove a few items to get to it, but well worth replacing even if your car seems to run great.

This is a genuine Ford Motorcraft part. My old Motorcraft PCV was a tan/beige color, and this one is blue.

The PCV valve fit and the price was good for a Motorcraft OE part. The old one was sticking and although I cleaned it I was still getting an occasional CEL.
