This little dual gauge tramming tool is a great addition for CNC, and intended to set tram on my hobby CNC machine. After initial setup in the router and some additional fiddling around to get everything ready for a test, I accidently activated the router while the tram was in contact with the bed of my router table. Yikes! That was the last time this instrument was used. The dials popped open, the face plate retainers all sprung off, and the gauge rods themselves bent. Unrepairable. It really bummed me out! This is a good set of gauges that are purpose-built and specific to my need! Now I use simpler methods to set the tram on my CNC, but it simply can't be as accurate as this little dual-gauge traming instrument.

I THINK the product is well made but how would I know if its accurate? It comes with a little magnet device for inconsistencies. But if one gauge is slightly longer than the other one than what good is it?It says what the magnet is supposed to do but I don't understand because the instructions do not explain HOW its supposed to account for inconsistencies. It just tells what to do with it but that means nothing if its not fully explained.Lower router till the gauge touches the magnet until the gauge reads .05 and zero the face. Turn the gauge 180 degrees and do the same with the other side. That is about it!What is the difference between that and just lowering the gauge to the table? When one gauge touches zero it out. When the other gauge touches turn the face of that gauge.I have not found a suitable video that really explains the depth of complexity, for which I am sure there is more to it, to account for inconsistencies.Additionally, am I reading .05, or .005. It doesn't exactly say. And, what are the little dials for that look like a clock. What units of measurement is that? Instructions don't say that either. If it wasn't for these minor issues, I would give it ALL 5 stars but when it comes to instructions I find it a little lazy in that department. Some people don't like puzzles and I am one of them. I don't do crosswords cause I need it spelled out and I really think this could be spelled out better.

Very clever design and high quality build. Makes tramming the head on my mill a fast and easy process. Highly recommended. Small size works perfectly on my bench-top mini-mill. Larger size for full-size machines.

I work on CNC routers so this is a great small indicator to carry to check spindle tramming. I use 123 blocks to get a planar surface from the spoilboard (already milled level). 1/4" shaft makes it more convenient for smaller tool holders (ER11 and ER20 collets). Unfortunately, I slammed the spindle down into the bed and jammed it.

This is a fantastic tool for tramming-in a mini CNC router. My Openbuilds CNC has little clearance for dial indicators and this was the perfect solution. I’ve saved hours of setup. This is a very high quality tool.

I live this. it works too well. now i know all the issues, with flex, movement, repeatability, out of square.I recommend this if you have a router based 1/4" spindle/collet on your cnc.

I have a Shapeoko 3 XXL. I just recently tuned it up and got it dialed in. I tried surfacing my spoilboard and a piece of aluminum but I ended up with deep ridges all across the material. I tried tramming with my dial indicator in my spindle and a piece of mirror/glass leveled off of my spoilboard. That made an improvement but I still had noticeable ridges. I bit the bullet and purchased this tram. Once I learned how to use it, I had my spindle trammed in about 30 mins. I got the x axis to within .0005 square and the y axis .0015 square. This thing is awesome!!! I surfaced my spoilboard once again a and I have slight ghost lines but nothing that I can feel. One more thing, the customer service from Edge Technology is superb. I paid $112 plus shipping for the mini pro tram on Monday 2/4/19. As of Tuesday the price went down to $99. I shot them an email and asked if they did refunds on price decreases and sure enough they refunded the $12. So to sum it up, the tram works like a champ, it looks awesome, has a hefty feel to it. It has a good looking solid case with excellent protection and the customer service is outstanding. I would buy again and I recommend anyone considering this to pull the trigger!

Great tool to tram my CNC machine. The only issue I've had is one post is sticking after 1 use. I have not tried to contact the seller yet to find out what I need to do. I got my machine trammed and just haven't gotten to it. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. It doesn't hurt that it looks sharp too.
