A balancer that isn't properly attached is not only dangerous but will not do it's job of protecting the crank bearings properly. Grade 8, heat-treated and thread rolled steel in a gold irradiated finish. Bolt features a 3/4 inch head for easy torquing and engine turning by hand. Set includes bolt, lock washer and 1/4 inch thick flat washer.

Balancer still on after a 7000 rpm pass. So that's a plus.....

Although I wasn't able to use the supplied washer(because of the engine, not a fault of the part), the bolt has a nice thick head on it so you have a lot of surface area for the socket to grab. Worked great for my application.

This bolt has cold rolled threads and many other features that make it comparable to other higher priced bolts. USA made. The price is great. But as others have stated, there are problems with the threads; case in point, the threads on mine had something like waste metal on some of the threads. I was already chasing the threads on the crankshaft, so I chased the bolt as well. It cleaned out without taking any material from the bolt itself. I took out the metal spatter only. No biggie. But, had I not been prepared, I would have damaged something and it would have been a bad day., hence the 4 stars only. My advice is that if you want to get the best bang for your buck, then buy this product and clean it before you install it. This bolt certainly beats the old hardware store bolt that I replaced...
