These things are really cool! The neat part of this particular one is that all the controls are right at thumbs reach but at the same time there really isnt any fine adjustments on the camera to clear up the image. But it does a pretty good job at focusing right at the start. We looked at a grain of table salt and sadly the counter top was in focus but we couldnt get the grain to focus. I know there are better options out there that allow for that fine image focus for right around the same price. These things are WONDERFUL pickups for a kiddo who is into science or just how somethings work. I know as a not so young person I dig how cool these things can be. If youre in the market and want a decent priced easy to use microscope its worth checking out as a "starter" microscope and if the kiddo wants an upgrade worry about that then.

This is a cute product but unfortunately, it does not work well. I tried to look at dates on coins but couldn't even make out the coin itself, let alone the date, as everything is blurry and I tried all the settings/different options, etc. and still I could not see anything. When you turn it on it plays a loud melody and there is a setting to turn the volume down, however, the volume did not turn down when I changed the setting. There is no option to turn the volume off either, so while it's in use, you are forced to listen to a loud melody non-stop. The zoom/magnification settings go up to 4x which is significantly less than the camera on my iPhone (which zooms in 25x). Maybe the games work, not sure, but this did not work for me.

I was expecting more of a magnifier than a microscope, but what a tool! This is so great, when teaching your kids about stuff and they can actually SEE the fine detail! What's even better, the microscope holds hundreds of pictures to look over again. This is a fabulous toy, and reasonably priced!

The games are a joke, the start screen bizarre, but its ease of use makes this a really cool magnifier. The screen doesn’t have smartphone resolution, that’s it’s biggest downside. It magnifies better than my phone, but the display isn’t as good. This competes well against my phone with a 40x loupe. The phone and loupe produces a far clearer image, but its depth of field is tiny. This has a surprisingly good depth of field. I don’t have to mess with the focus at all, I can get a decent magnified view with little effort, and that’s provably its best feature. The ring light illuminates the subjects evenly, which is really nice compared to a single bulb from the side. The buttons are fairly intuitive. I haven’t tried sharing the screengrabs. I tried the games and they’re the most basic games with awful controls. I don’t need it to do anything besides be a more user-friendly loupe that works like a magnifying glass, and it does that surprisingly well.

If it only claimed to be a point and look it would get 5 stars. It is a lot of fun and easy to use as an electronic magnifying glass. Very enjoyable. However, its Mac connectivity is useless- their HiView app connected but could not download images. Photo booth did not recognize it as a camera. The manual claims it has a charge vs camera mode- but the option is not on the menu and did not pop up on device nor computer as the manual suggested it would. The manual lists menu choices- the only one missing was to set time and date! The device includes a few harmless games- a cute addition, but not something I find a good addition. As a point and look- I like it. Would be nice if computer interface just worked to retrieve photos or use directly. I am very computer literate- even if it can be made to work it is clearly not easy to make work. A shame- I really like using it for looking.

This is such a fun microscope! Once my kids got the hang of it they were amazed by what they could see. I was shocked how it can zoom in so closely on even our clothes and see the stitching. It's a powerful little toy that can open up a whole new world for children. My kids are still figuring out the games but the buttons work well. This would make a really great, educational gift.

My almost four year old is curious about the world around her, and now that curiosity extends to seeing weird stuff really close up. She's used her magnifier/microscope to examine both the mundane and the unexpected (and sometimes the gross). The little unit seems to have adequate battery life even with the LEDs being as bright as they are. We haven't explored all of the functions, but so far everything works well. We tried Tetris and it played well. The menus are easy enough to navigate, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all, this has been so much fun to have around!Five out of five stars!

I was greatly surprised by what could be seen with this microscope (technically, it’s more like a digital magnifying glass). It is well-constructed, and the clarity of the images are really good for something like this. Extra features like zoom and LED lights are a plus, and work very well. The buttons are a little small, but should be OK for kid hands. It’s a little hard to see what each button is for (there is no contrasting icon on them), but once you get used to it, you should be able to push them without looking. I like the fact that it has a transparent “stand-off” so that when you place this on the ground (e.g. to look at a bug), you won’t crush the bug in the process! The silly “games” that are included could just as well have been removed. As an educational tool, it’s great. Don’t bother with the games.
