The NP18DSAL Pin Nailer is taking fine finish carpentry to the next level. No longer will you have to worry about hoses and compressor for your 23-gauge pin nailer needs.
Please note, it is necessary to buy high quality pins to ensure the tool works as expected. Pins with lower grade metal can be less rigid and bend at the point of entry or bend at the point of impact from the tool. Each of these scenarios can cause the tool to jam or the pin not to penetrate the wood as anticipated, especially at longer lengths. Metabo HPT pin nails are manufactured to higher tolerances and perform better in our nailers. For best performance, use the following genuine Metabo HPT pins, available on . 1) 23000SHPT (5/8") 2) 23001SHPT (3/4") 3) 23002SHPT (1") 4) 23003SHPT (1 3/16") 5) 23004SHPT (1 3/8")
It is equipped with a built-in counterweight that virtually eliminates all recoil, while reducing the force needed to actuate the tool.
It also features a no-push work contact safety tip that reduces marring to provide a clean finish.
Additional features include tool-less depth of drive adjustment, dry-fire lockout, on-tool battery indicator, belt hook, soft grip handle, and tool body rubber bumpers.
The NP18DSAL pin nailer is capable of driving approximately 3000 pins with Metabo HPT's Compact 3.0Ah battery, allowing you to efficiently and comfortably complete any task.
This 23-Gauge cordless pin nailer drives pins in lengths of 5/8", 3/4", 1", 1-3/16" and 1-3/8".
Can be used to produce nearly invisible holes for a variety of applications including cabinets, paneling, small molding and trim, glazed bead, craft work and picture frame assembly.
Covered by Metabo HPT's Lifetime Lithium Ion tool .

I have had great luck with Metabo nailers, I have purchased three different ones and they all work flawlessly.I am new to nailers and have had a whole new world open up to me; these finished nails disappear on the surface. Love metabo so far.

*SECOND UPDATE*If Amazon would let me use the language I want to in order to describe this thing, children would cry. What a piece of garbage. I thought I had it worked out and it was working great for a short while. No misfires. No jams. Now I'm back to where I was. Jams,Misfires. The works. Totally unreliable performance. When it worked it was great for the price. The problem is, you never know when it's going to work! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: if you're buying this to use in a professional capacity, on a regular basis, and you need it to perform no matter what...DON'T. I bought this because it was over $100 cheaper than the DeWalt 20v Atomic. I thought I was making a good decision as I wasn't sure how much I'd use it. I've found many uses for it when I didn't need my pneumatic pin nailer but everytime I put it to work, I regret it. I end up aggravated and cursing to myself. Do yourself a favor and get a different brand. DeWalt, Milwaukee, whatever. Just not this...thing.*UPDATE*After using this nailer for a bit now, I really can't say that I recommend it to anyone that will use it in a professional capacity. Granted, it is compact and does a good job of driving pins flush, but the hassle of having to deal with jams is just unacceptable. I really don't understand why this pin nailer can't be as reliable as my Hitachi air-powered pin nailer, but it surely isn't. I thought I had worked the bugs out and drove a full strip of ⅝" pins yesterday. But then when I added another strip, it again ended up riding up over the partial strip, breaking a few pins loose and not feeding properly. I had high hopes for this thing but it isn't living up to expectations. On top of that, Metabo HPT has been silent as far as any responses to my emails asking for assistance. So, buyer beware. Looks like this one will be relegated to a drawer and the DeWalt pin nailer will be my next investment.Original Review: I bought this, as well as the 18g brad nailer because some of my jobs only require a handful of nails to reattach trim or the installation of some thin panels. A small enough amount of fasteners that pulling out my compressor, hose, and nailers can get tiresome. I got this pin nailer due to its size and price as compared to the Dewalt nailers. This pin nailer is good, except for when it's not. It drives pins without a problem and drives them flush. As you'll read in other reviews, the issue comes from jamming, which is caused by the nailer itself. I've found that the issue is either the impact or recoil caused by the nailer that causes the strip of pins to either misalign or come apart in the magazine. As soon as I clear it and put a strip in that is whole, the issue is resolved until it happens again. I haven't tried the Dewalt model, and I'm not 100% sure that this one is going to stay in my arsenal of tools. If you're thinking of buying this pin nailer, just be forewarned of this possible issue.

I'm going to list issues for you.It jams up a lot, including the first day, first use, first shot.It will also misfire, because the nail rack is very poorly made.Sometimes I can get a good run of shots in, but only if I take the time to realign the pin strip, because the end closest to the hammer raises up, and when that happens the hammer either doesn't even touch the pin, or it folds it in half which requires disassembly and reasssembly to fix. (I have literally never had this problem with my Porter-Cable pneumatic pin gun, ever, and I have gone through 3 of them in my life. I wouldn't be surprised if I have shot hundreds of thousands of pins with them.)I was super disappointed, and even moreso after I gave the manual a good look over, and then every single problem they highlighted in the troubleshooting section happened in the first day.I have since bought the DeWalt cordless pin gun, and it works almost as good as a pneumatic. And it doesnt cost much more than this one did at regulat price. A difference I was willing to pay to have the gun work every time I pull the trigger. The feel of the gun isn't bad at all, and that is one of the things that is so upsetting about it all. It frels like a good tool and performs like garbage. As others of have said, the non mar tip is not on there very well, and it really doesn't do its job. The secondary one works far better.I woukd also like to say that I was shooting soft wood with all of those issues, so you can bet your bottom dollar that I would never even consider using this tool on hard woods, like exoensive cabinets and trims that match, unless of course I had plenty of time to spend an entire day repairing all the problems it caused by the continuous malfunctions. It sucks. It really does. Anyone who is saying otherwise either has never used a working pin gun, or they got the one gun in a thousand that works like it should. The bad reviews speak volumes. They're all correct. I am very disappointed in this product.Having to constantly reallign the pin strips in the rack is super irritating.Someone else mentioned the fact that you cannot stack strips either. That is true for the most part, so consider the fact that you are going to have a 10% loss on every strip, because 20 left means you are out. (The Porter-Cable pneumatic will shoot until it is completely empty, and then it will not even dry fire.)If you used this gun daily, you will quickly eat the savings on a good price point with unusable pin strips. It seems to do a little better with longer pins as far as them staying in the rack straight, but it still will not shoot the loner pins that the Porter-Cable does. So you are limited in that respect as well.I have been waitng for the cordless pin nailers to come out forever so I could lose the compressor and hose like so many others have claimed as well. This gun is not it. If you like to be annoyed, it is the perfect gun. If you want production and ease of use, buy something else. This gun is definitely not worth the aggravation it causes. In fact, I would rather untangle an improperly rolled PVC airhose on the coldest day in the dead of winter, before I ever use this gun again.I really hope all of you get to read my review, because it was written with matter of fact honestly from a seasoned and skilled tradesman. There are far better products on the market, and they are worth every penny.Good luck shopping for a gun that works. The Ms and DWs are far superior.

Very pleased with the performance and efficiency. The gun is so much lighter than a battery brad nailer and quiet to boot with strip loads from a small carry box of 10,000 pin nails. Painter is impressed that the holes are so tiny he just paints over without Alex spot filler. This tool is a must purchase for every trim carpenter!

I bought this specifically to use for an installation of 3/4" solid oak. It was tested in the shop and worked well. For some reason the first few shots did not sink properly, however the following 20 shots with 1-3/8" pin nails all went through 3/4" oak perfectly. On site it was doing well, until it missed sinking three times in a row, leaving the pin nails sticking 1/4" out of the wood. Not good, and yes, the battery was charged.Overall the nailer is made well, it feels solid and has a nice weight to it. If you have cordless Hitachi tools the good news is the batteries will work with the nailer. I'm on the fence about keeping the nailer, I need a tool to work all the time, especially on installs. No one wants to mess around trying to pry pin nails out of finished millwork.
