I took another reviewers advice and bought a stained glass lightbulb for this. Incredible diffusion of light and beautiful patterns on the wall. Highly recommend!

These are well made and pleasant. Complaints about seeing the light source are, for me, a 'well duh' issue. These shades are decorative and are for low wattage decorative bulbs. If you want to use a higher wattage, get a solid shade.

This picture doesn’t do the lamp shade justice. It’s beautiful with the gold underside and how the light filters through to make patterned magic on the walls. I have a stained glass bulb in to really play up the whimsical feeling this shade gives my space. Love it!

I was surprised it arrived not dented as it was poorly wrapped and its box somewhat damaged. That aside, it is an absolutely gorgeous metal completely see-through art-work lampshade (I got the pattern-with-trees). I should have read more reviews about the bulb issue. Once you put a light-bulb in it, even a lower watt, when the light is turned on...the bulb itself is so distracting. It looked amazing on a lamp in our small family room as long as the light was off; but turn it on and it was too distracting and bright. In a very large room where the lamp may be not really used as much for seeing/reading, etc., it would be perfect. I wanted so much for this to work but it just doesn't in the small space. I realize now that pictures on Amazon don't really give you notice of this bulb issue and how visible it is when turned on. If you keep that in mind, and that doesn't bother you, then this is a truly beautiful lamp shade. More beautiful off than on. I had to return this via UPS and had to use its same box but secured all sides, included extra padding inside the shade and around it as well as top and bottom and marked the box fragile.
