To take your own bp with this machine, you need a D-ring cuff. Unfortunately, it does not work for me. It is too tight at the top and too loose at the bottom and as a result the reading is way off because the cuff does not fit right. The larger size was way too big. They need something in between and the D- ring cuff should be an option when you buy the set. You have to buy it as an add-on. I wrote to the company but they did not offer a refund.

The cuff is awkward due to the steel ring and the manometer is not set to zero.
