I always used a folding file to insert my tape but it disappeared at a tournament. I needed something new so I ordered this. Inserting the tape by placing it into the little plastic grips is not practical. The tape kept twisting or turning just enough that it didn't stay in position. I now just stick the tap to the tip of it and place it that way. I could have done that with a pencil or thin pen just as easily and cheaper. I wouldn't buy again but I'll use it until it disappears too.

Does the job but I don't like it. It is thin plastic and does not work well when removing the tape to move it around. I used a metal dental toll with a small 1/4" flat end that easily places the tape and can also remove a single layer of tape or all of it at one time quickly and easily. I can understand why many folks use a small pen knife for this task. My tool works better for me because its blade is thinner if you want to place tape into the smaller finger holes.

Does a great job of positioning the tape where you want it before applying, much superior to using a screwdriver, flat metal tape removal tool, or a folded up piece of tape backing paper. It doesn't hang on to the tape as well as it might, and does have a little trouble with different sizes of tape, but it will work, and it's much better than a tool that does not have tape grabbing functionality.Have not used it extensively for tape removal, but it certainly seems sturdy enough to do the job. Lastly, I had to dock a star for value, due to the large markup on this item that is really a $3 piece of plastic. I think that's about what it costs to buy it straight from Master. You may be able to find this cheaper somewhere else, but I bought here for convenience and paid the upcharge, and for value, must adjust the star rating accordingly.
