Merc 50hp would keep stalling out at idle. Doesn't make any sense, but this was the issue. Quickly replaced and its been working for a whole year now.

My gasket failed after only a few months. Therm still works but I wouldn't buy again nor recommend

I had no idea why my engine was mad at me, but all of a sudden I got an alarm, and the engine wouldn't let me go much above an idle. Luckily, I wasn't that far away from my slip. I'd never had an issue like this, so it was a little alarming ($$$ going in my head)...After safely tying up, I started doing some research, and figured out that the most likely problem was my thermostat. My thermostat??!?? I always got a new one at the beginning of each season, and had never had an issue before. Well, apparently if you go through foul water, or lots of weeds, or stuff like that, that detritus can get clogged up in the thermostat, and cause the engine to overheat. It protected itself (lucky for me!!!), and so I searched around for a replacement.I came across this thermostat, and after changing it (a very easy job to do), my engine runs great again! Win!!!It was an easy fix, and this is a great replacement at an excellent price point. At $18.50, it's a great deal, and I plan on having at least one extra on board in case it ever happens again.Recommended!

pros: Fit well came up to temp fine,No leaks, good value, got it next day !!!! Cons :gasket is pretty cheaply made so don’t over tighten…

This wee little thermostat came with a new seal and is just what it is, a simple copper, and stainless steel thermostat for my Mercury 50 HP Outboard (EFI model). I installed it but had to goto work so a friend took my boat out and TORTURED the engine - ALL DAY in 100 degree (f*) weather.... My previous old thermostat was getting stuck only opening half way and the dreaded overheat warning beeping would happen after about 30 min of driving. But after installing this my boat goes full throttle ALL DAY and the engine stays nice and cool.Worked EXCELLENT! Would buy again, in fact I might buy another just to have on hand for a replacement in a couple years.
