The covering of a woman 's head, during the Catholic Mass Prayer Liturgy, has always been a mark of respect, throughout the Ages, at least, during the past, 2000 years! I believe that God is the same: today, yesterday, and will be: forever and ever, into Eternity. When I was young, we learned that: "Fashions change; but, God does not change." True, men were, in fact, asked : NOT to cover their heads in Moses time, during gatherings in response to the wishes of God, (many thousands of years, ago, at the beginning of creation, but, women were and, even, in modern times, were asked to cover their heads. Dropping reverent habits, is always, mistaken! This Mantveil Small Triangle Chapel Veil has the look of lace with pretty opaque flowers and not very much see-through lace. It is a real covering, which is white and seasonal for the summer. The priesthood, during formal public liturgical or ceremonial church functions such as processions, belongs to men, always, because, already women have the important function of being God 's servants and God 's vessels for housing the pre-born for generational humanity, through pro-creation; and, so, it is only fitting that men and boys, have their function or province of carrying out manly and priestly public functions! Sisters and religious may speak at seminars, but, manly ordained priests and deacons should have their province. This is nothing to do with intelligence, but, everything to do with holding in respect, reverence for the Will of Almighty God, who dispenses gender to mankind, through natural means. The new covenant permitted by Jesus Christ, did change many superficial functional aspects of impractical laws away from the ancient formal customs, because Jesus, wished to lighten "our burdens"; and, then, saint Paul, the apostle was directed and designated for us, who, are not Jewish Christians ;but, Gentiles, to set the standard for congregational worship at gatherings, showing respect during worship of the: Real Presence of God, at consecration of the bread and wine; and, the partaking of the holy meal, and during prayer. This basic concept demanding adoration and reverence, has not changed! Too bad, the women who wear cleavage, skin tight jeans or short, shorts, or other revealing clothes; or, men, likewise, wearing thin beach wear and shorts during the ceremonial worship of the Blessed Sacrament and during Holy Mass, because, the real presence of Jesus Christ deserves our respect ! He notices all things! Our Father in Heaven notices everything ! We all live in the ever present seeing eye of our all- powerful creator, God, hence, the song: "His Eye is on the Sparrow" ;and, the biblical verses that: not a sparrow falls to the ground without His knowledge; and, He can count the hairs on our heads! (Google chapter and verse) .Our God is ,after all , a Supreme Being, who can do all things. We can pray all the time: in contemplation, or silent meditation or verbal prayer, and, certainly, our thankful prayers and greetings to God, are no doubt received with pleasure; no matter, if we are in the shower or under surgery and indisposed, but, we must consider that even within our family sphere, we are called upon to be modest and humble, even in private. Our bodily secret places are "secret"! Let us retain the ability to blush, when young; and, to be circumspect and not "numb" to sin or decency in dress. Remember that nakedness, is a symptom of demon possession, and Jesus healed the demon-possessed man, in the region of Garasenes and they answered they were "legion" or many and flew into the swine who hurled themselves over the cliffs, to the dismay of their owners. This man became quiet and modest and was clothed in a mantle, and wanted to follow Jesus, who directed him to return home to his village and preach about the miraculous healing of God.

My longer veils were boxing in heat in the choir loft and I needed something pretty that is smaller and would allow for me to stay cool in the warmer months.

This beautiful mantilla is the perfect size for for wearing to Mass. It came with two small combs to attach to keep it on which I wasn’t expecting so they were a nice surprise. The quality of the lace is very good and the butterfly pattern is lovely. This mantilla is exactly what I wanted and it’s a good value for the money. I’m very happy with it.
