I am very pleased with this product and would buy it again. The grappling hook is quite small but I have not used it so far.

I bought this because i have had an interest in trying magnet fishing for a while, but also needed a strong magnet to help pick up old nails I have been finding around the property. I know testing a magnet only requires for it to be able to lift something up to the point so many times, and I don't doubt that this one may have done it a few times, but pulling any metal off of the magnet seems to easy for something that should be able to lift a small motorcycle. Hooking it to the fridge I can pull it off with just my pinky finger. If the nails or any metal was not right at the surface, it would not pick it up, even hoovering the magnet 3 inches above a nail would not move the nail from the surface. It did help with picking up a lot of metal, even found a vary magnetic rock in the process, but if you want a really powerful magnet that can pull up a safe or something else heavy from the water, this probably not the one.have not tested out the hook yet, reading the comments just makes me think that it has a chance of either being crap or decent.

Not a lot of pulling power but for lighter items it works great

I actually bought one of these to retrieve a dryer vent brush after I lost it in the dryer vent while trying to clean it out myself. It worked amazingly well following a guys instructions on youtube to duck tape the magnet to a pole. My kids were intrigued and now want to go magnet fishing so I bought a couple more.

It was exactly what I expected. The magnet is great, the rope is plenty long. Found a ball receiver and cell phone the first time out! Great way to spend time with the kids!

After watching "Dryer Vent Brush stuck. Easy removal method By Nick's Handyman Services" on YouTube, I purchased this magnet. I pulled the rope through a ten foot 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe I had laying around and attached the magnet at the end with the provided loop and some Gorilla tape for extra security. It made a stiff rod to push into a straight dryer vent section and in a matter of a minute stuck itself to the ferrous end of my remaining rod and pulled it right back out.
