The long bar with the racheting mechanism can sometimes get in the way, you can always find a way to make it work. But have to play around with the angles, I've used for the past couple years. Gearwrenchs belt tool works much better though, it's a bit more versatile because the bar isn't nearly as long. So if you're in the market I'd spend the extra for that set over this one.

This tool works perfect for front wheel drive vehicles with the engine in sideways. It was the only way for me to remove the belt on a Ford Explorer.

The first time I used this tool it worked perfectly. It is not needed for every FWD vehicle, but when it is you'll be glad you have it. Time is money, and this tool will save you from wasting time.

Although, I own and have bought many of Lisle tools in the past I have to say this one is questionable. I like the tool and how it functions but, the way the ratcheting head is made; it is not secured between the two pieces of metal very well. I am going to Tig weld and bridge these two pieces together with another piece of metal so they can not separate when putting torque pressure on the belt tensioner or if it should twist. Otherwise this tool worked for the extremely tight area on the 2005 Chevy Cobalt serpentine belt.

Lisle makes a lot of quality products and this one is another one. The tool itself is great but there are advantages and disadvantages of the tool. The advantages are;- The tool is very thin for working in tight areas. Especially newer vehicles, things are getting tighter in engine bays and working against the frame or body of a car to remove the belt is very difficult. If you ever try to use a ratchet, wrench, or something similar, it is hard and back breaking. This tool provides a ratcheting mechanism to make that easier.- All the sockets are included and comes with a variety of sockets for various models and applications and comes in a rubber casing to hold them.- Of coarse the ratcheting mechanism. It is handy being able to ratchet it backwards for more leverage. Using those other belt tools with no ratchet mechanism is hard because you need to remove it then adjust it back on to the tensioner to remove the belt. Painful and takes forever. The disadvantages are;- Like a previous review said, the ratchet mechanism is "sloppy." That is correct but not entirely true. It doesn't have a fine tooth ratchet mechanism like hand ratchet has where it has 72 or 80 teeth. This has about 24 teeth give or take. It's not the best ratcheting mechanism but gets the job done.- The forward and reverse lever to ratchet it left or right is very small. It is sometimes hard to flip it back or forth due to the size even with small hands but you could just flip it over and problem is solved.- The sockets are great but it doesn't have any markings on them defining the size of it. You either have to guess and take all them out and try it or eye ball the size. Would be great if there was markings on them telling the size of each. The tool itself works great, great tool to have to make the job easier. Your also not breaking the bank to purchase the tool. I have a technician in my job that owns a Snap-On one of these and they paid close to $480 for the set. For a fraction of that, you could buy this one. I would recommended this for a serious mechanic or even a DIY.

I replaced my serpentine belt last week on my 2010 Accord using a regular wrench and a length of PVC for leverage. It was not easy. I ordered this thing, and it would have made a world of difference. Now I can't wait for my belt to wear out again! Luckily, this tool comes with all the equipment needed to replace belts on cars and trucks owned by family and friends. The tool is well made and I have no doubt will hold up well. Like everyone else, I would have liked the sockets labeled and a carry case would be nice, but all in all I'm very pleased with this tool. The socket did come off the tool and remain on the tension pulley while I was messing around, but I wouldn't call that a problem. After lots of research and my own experience, this was the tool I went for. The ratchet makes things much easier. It's great. I just wish I had it last week.

An amazing tool! Previously bought another brand's ratcheting belt tool (cheaper, at the time) and found that the head with sockets were too bulky to fit, but Lisle's tool is perfect. I had been pining over this set for nearly 3 years, but could not pass up the price this time. No issues and cuts down the removal/installation time dramatically.

The tool arrived in good condition despite Amazon packing it is a box twice as long as needed and with only a few crumpled pieces of paper to keep it from sliding around. The tool comes shrink-wrapped to a carboard backing, and all the motion in the box made it come partially loose from the backing. The tool itself seems very strong, and although not mentioned, the sockets/adapters come in a molded "carrier" so they they are not just loose in your drawer. The adapters have ball-bearing detents in them (like your ratchet) to keep them in place. I haven't used it yet, but the thin profile will be great in tight engine compartments. It would be nice to have a small carrying case for it, but overall it is a great value for the money, especially since it is a quality US made tool.
