This wheel went on a EZ-Cab cabbing machine. Initially it was seriously out of round. With the cabbing machine running and the wheel mounted I ran a wood chisel across its face. The high spots hit first and were trimmed off until finally the wheel was round and flat. Charged wheel in cerium oxide by making a 2:1 solution of cerium oxide to water in a narrow plastic bin and rolled wheel in solution until it was soaked up. Wheel & cerium combo polished hard agate thundereggs perfectly. I would buy this wheel again.

Every buffing wheel I have order has a flat spot or is out of round. I have to put it on a lathe and cut it round. Very annoying!

I prefer these hard felt wheels to bring a flat surface with sharpe edges on gold, silver or bronze up to a bright, final polish.

It's not round, the hole is off-center, the hole isn't square to the face and the perimeter is dished. It's been crudely cut with a blunt press. This all means it wobbles and it's horribly off-balance. I spent about 45 minutes trying to square it off and it's marginally better, but I think I'll have to go back to my old worn out one and toss this one

Hard as a felt wheel should be so that it doesn’t round over a sharp cutting edge

This pad is thick and dense as a good felt polish wheel should be. It polishes rocks beautifully and will last a very, very long time.

Take care to note the description on this product! Despite being felt, it is an extremely hard and aggressive material suitable to the cutting step rather than the polishing step. It is a high-quality item, with a nice wide face. My fault that I assumed the felt material would lend itself well to the final, or near final, steps of polishing. Instead, it does a respectable job on the cutting/sanding prep. The scratches created in the metal appears to be in the ballpark of 500 grit sandpaper. Not at all what I was looking for to polish, but now I have a tool to save manual sanding! I do recommend the product provided you are clear on your intended use.
