Overall I am impressed with the quality and functionality for under $20.00.The net is compact & lightweight, it easily flips opens and locks in to place, with a twist the pole extends. The rubberized net is better than traditional tied nylon string since it stays open. The frame and handle are made of aluminum. The folding mechanism is made of plastic however it seems sturdy enough.

This is a very handy portable net. It folds in half for easy transport and storage. It has a nice sturdy clip near the middle for hanging on your belt or pants. You can grab the handle and with the flick of your wrist it snaps easily into the open position. With a counter clockwise quarter turn of the handle you can extend the net to its full length. There is a sliding thumb release tab at the end of the net to fold it in half again. This net is very lightweight but yet very solid and well built. The actual net is made of rubber which dries very quickly and doesn't snag hooks so easily. So far everything about this net is very impressive and I do highly recommend it!

I am primarily a catch and release fisherman, so keeping the fish safe is important. This netting is great for that. It is deep enough to handle most freshwater species I woudl be fishing for, and the coating on the netting not only helps in protecting the fish, but also is helpful in preventing hooks from getting snagged in the net itself. It folds up to be fairly compact, and it is lightweight; making it suitable for the kayak fishing that I do. It telescopes out to a good length for helping in landing the fish quickly. My only concern is that there is some play in the telescoping handle. I understand that will be the case in all of these types of nets; however, the play in this one is much more prnounced than others I use. I feel tolerances could have been a little tighter. It calls into question the strudiness and durability on the net. It has done fine for now; but has not been put under any real strain yet. Time will tell. Other than that, it is a very solid product.

I love the belt clip, but the net is not as deep as I'd expected. I'll keep it for trout fishing, but it definitely isn't big enough for steelhead.

Great net for stream fishing. I can't speak for saltwater fishing, I'm a trout nerd. It's collapsible and weighs less than a pound which makes it perfect packing in and out of the stream... or lake. The netting is a coated nylon which I prefer over the (now popular) full rubber netting found on far more expensive nets. I'm 100% barbless catch & release and this type of netting is not harmful to trout. It's winter here now and I've managed to use it twice so far since we have sections of tailwater that remain unfrozen most of the winter. I remain frozen but continue to fish. I've already landed a fair share of small-medium Browns, Bows, and Whitefish with it no problem. I'm confident that I could land a 20"+ hawg with it, and I will... just not during the last couple of sessions. The plastic clip is kinda janky and I'm gonna remove that. It might be a nice feature for some but I attach my net differently while wading. I don't own a kayak but I think the handle is sufficiently long to be suitable for that. Overall a nice little net that'll land every trout that most of the far more expensive trout nets can.... at a far better price. I have no gripes with this net. Surprisingly excellent quality for a lower tier net. Very much worthwhile.

The strongest aspect of the net is that it is collapsible; and very easily so. The telescopic handle isn't as long as our regular one; this is just one and half the vertical of the net itself. But our regular one hangs out of our ice fishing sled, this one doesn't. It is meant for being relatively close to the fish out of the water; hopefully with someone else scooping it while you are holding your line taut. It has a deep net, and we can scoop 15-inch trout with this net with no problem. The netting itself is made of plastic stuff (silicon?) and is reinforced with cloth trim where it is sewn together. The handle pops into place from underneath the neck of the net to give it stability, though with a fish in it, you can feel the strain on the telescopic part of the handle. But then, the fish isn't meant to be in the net long anyways. However, there is a definite wobble to the loop from the handle from a good shake, so we don't know it's longevity. The best part that makes it collapsible is also its weakest part.

It's mid-December in Minnesota, and I won't have an opportunity to try this out on the water until next spring. I like this net for the following reasons:1. One reviewer stated he used it on a 15 pound channel catfish, and that seems about right to me. That's large enough for any fish I am likely to catch except for flathead catfish.2. The handle is about 16 inches long, and that's a good size when fishing from a canoe or kayak.3. It is deeper than stated in the Amazon listing -- closer to a foot deep instead of 9.8 inches deep as stated. With a larger fish, the net's depth should stretch out to about 16 inches.4. I release most of the fish I catch, and the net is soft, does not have knots, and is flat bottomed. All of those reduce fish mortality.5. The net is attached to the frame more securely than some other nets I own.6. It has a belt clip and clicks into locked position with a simple flick of the wrist. This makes it easier to use while wading, since you can easily operate it with a single hand.
