I have incredibly hard soil in my yard that we are working on trying to get on better shape this year. This is a great tool for helping break up soil compaction. The tool is very sturdy and well and it was easy to put together. There was a handle extension and then the handle to connect with bolts but it was very easy and everything is made of metal meaning is very heavy duty. The spikes are very sharp, so I definitely recommend wearing work boots for working with this tool. The tool is very easy to use you just put it in the area and then stomp down on the pad and whoosh into the ground it goes. I will say my ground is not all easy to aerate but it’s not any weakness of this tool it’s he hard ground of mine! I did manage to get it going and I definitely am glad to have this tool to help upgrade my soil.

It’s spring time and that means it’s lawn building time. I was looking for a tool I could use to seed the lawn more effectively. That search led me to find this gadget. A soil hole puncher that makes it easier to deep seed grass. This has probably been one of the more useful law tools I’ve come across on here because simply does what it’s supposed to do.The build of it is solid enough for the job and the base is very heavy which means it’s thick steel. Out the box setup is simple. It comes in 3 parts with 2 nuts and bolts to install as well as the wrenches. Assembly time is maybe 5 minutes tops. It’s simple enough for anyone to do nothing hard. The handles on the tool are foam. I like that because hard plastic or solid metal or wood handles can be very uncomfortable on garden tools that require a bit of muscle work. Your hands wear pretty quickly doing repetitive work like that. The foam is a nice cushion that makes the tool feel nice to use.The base of the tool is where the working part comes in. Long metal teeth and some springs. It works by you stepping on the top portion and the load from your weight pushes the spring portion into the ground leaving a nice depth of holes. It works very well and is simple. It’s actually kind of fun and satisfying to use which I wasn’t expecting or anticipating at all.Now the trick to get it to work and what makes it either a great tool or a bad one is on the condition of your soil. If the ground is dry and hard and it has no moisture at all in it than I can promise you that you will hate this tool. It won’t work well at all in those conditions as it’s harder for the teeth to penetrate the soil. When I used the tool it had rained the night before. The ground was damp and moist. The tool slide down easily into the soil and left proper holes with no problems. The condition of the ground is important to how easy or terrible using this tool can go.You’ll have an easier time using this tool with soil that’s moist or wet. Now what I didn’t like so much about the tool is its area sizes it’s kind of small which means you’ll have to do more work to leave lots of holes or just find a another tool altogether for larger areas. The tool works but it will take some time to properly cover the average lawn with it. If your just spot seeding bald areas of your lawn or smaller areas it’s perfect. It isn’t ideal for large areas.Overall this tool is built for its purpose of putting small holes into the ground for seeding but its overall value for you will be determined by if it’s going to be ideal for servicing the total area of your lawn you intend to use it for.

The Lawn Aerator Tool, Manual Metal Spike Aerator Lawn Tool with Spring Base comes with everything you need to aerate your lawn. It is very easy to assemble and came with extra rings, nut, and screw. It's great that it is adjustable since I am 5'1" and I was concerned that it might be to tall for me. Being able to push down on it with your foot makes it easy on the arms and shoulders. The cushioned handle makes it more comfortable as well. The gloves are a nice addition. I found it easy to push into my soil now since it is not too dry or wet.
