Keeps the tone, and they are not that hard to assemble. Just watch the video :) I was using cheaper cables before, and when I made the switch to these it completely changed my tone in the best way.

I bought this kit to build a pedalboard and have custom length cables and it worked really well. Once you get the hang of it, cutting and assembling cables is a breeze. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

There's an admitted learning curve to properly cutting these cables and assembling, but I'm saving so much bulk and space on my pedal board not using traditional, excessively thick patch cables. Once properly assembled with solid connectivity, your board will look so much cleaner and easier to navigate around!

i have purchased pedal board connection kits from lava cable before . The ones i bought before had better extreme low capacitance cable and better gauge , the connectors had a insulation sleeve.the new ones i got recently the tightrope low capacitance cable is thinner , and the connectors don,t have an insulation sleeve. So much about being the best ... i wonder if the seller will take back this and replace it with better quality as my pedal board doesn't seem to accept this cables .its not that we don't know how to connect but there is a drastic drop in gain and my pedals don't work properly ...when i use the new kit ... i disconnected the new cables and used normal cables and the old cables from Lava everything works well.i am attaching pictures of th eoler version i had purchasedstarting left to rightnew connector 1st picture , no insulation sleeve if you compare it against the 2nd picture on the right ( older connector it has the insulation sleeve)cables the 3rd picture is thinner and non flexible very hard and once bent it doesn't go back to original shape unless you use your hands to straighten it up .. the older cable( last to the right ) is thicker , better quality and is flexible .

The cables are EXTREMELY particular and I created 3 or 4 bad cables before I got the hang of it. The instructional video was helpful, but the URL shortener used on the packaging is confusing — a combination of 0s and Os (zeros and capital-o's) made it impossible to read (BTW: Lava Cable, bitly lets you customize your shortened URLs). I ended up Googling for the instructions. I wish these were easier to assemble,

I just recently purchased and added these to my pedal board. The set up wasn't that bad at all. People said you need experience, but you don't! Although I highly recommend you watch the tutroial on Youtube. The instructions that come with the cables are not helpful enough. The first cable I did took a little extra time, and I ended up having to recycle it for a different spot in my chain because when I cut it to length I did not take into account the amount of extra cable I would need because cuting back the wire and plugging it into the plug. But the good news was that I did recycle the cable and it just added a little extra work on my end. Also, in order to not re-wire my whole board and end up with a bad wire somewhere, I made sure I tested each cable using an old korg tuner. The whole process probably took me about an hour and a half to two hours, but I also reorganized my board which added time as well.As far as sound quality... Wow! Major difference. All my old patch cables were cheap ones that i picked up at guitar center in 3 packs and such. I had read about the cables cleaning up tone, but I was shocked on just how big of a difference it made. The overall tone was clearer and more trebley and the volume pushed through better as well. I had to bring my amp volume down and turn down the treble quite a bit so that it wasn't too harsh. That's meant to be a good thing because I really had to push the treble before. It made such a difference that our worship pastor even told me he thought things sounded way clearer at practice. So I'm 100% satisfied and will definitely use them again if I need to add any additional pedals to my board in the future. And I still have wire left over so i will only need to purchase a few plugs inthe future too. Again, although I don't think any experience is required, I do highly recommend you find their video and watch it and watch it again as you work. After about 2-3 cabels you end up getting the hang of it and it moves pretty smoothly from there.

These patch cable have done an amazing job at decluttering my pedal board. The small heads make less spacing necessary between pedals, and the cut-to-fit cables reduce the "spaghetti" effect. No noticeable tone loss. Installation was a bit clumsy and no signal was heard at first, so I had to test + fix all five patch cables one by one - four had been assembled un-perfectly. OK, I'll blame it on my two left hands. However after a bit of a fuss, it is all in working order. I just wished there would be 6 or even 8-pair options. The cable are a bit pricey and I didn't want to buy two sets.Small note: thanks to the shipper. Since no black cable was available immediately they offered me the white one with a free guitar strap thrown in. I went for the red cable (kind of cool), and still received the (extra long) Seymour Duncan canvas strap.
