For the price, and based on my needs, this earned 5 stars. Was somewhat worried based on a few reviews (though most were positive), but everything worked perfectly for me! The software went on to my laptop (older) running Windows XP without incident, the device plugged in and was recognized after the automatic USB drivers installed, and the software interface is reasonably intuitive.I can't comment on the calibration/sensitivity of this device, but I was using it because my young child's bedroom seemed to be getting uncomfortably hot at night, and I wanted to get a sense of just how bad it was: this worked like a charm. I set the measurements so that it took a reading every 5 minutes throughout the night, and then was able to quickly download the data to the laptop and see the graphical representation (with pinpoint times and temperatures) throughout the night. It told us that despite the thermostat being at 68, my one child's room was going up to 74-75 degrees at night! I think this is accurate, because I also used it in my other child's roo, and it was alas, 1-2 degrees *lower* than the thermostat in the hallway throughout the night! (and we always knew it felt a little chilly) Suffice to say we have some heating/cooling issues to work out!! But this device helped give us a better idea of what we were dealing with!

This is a very useful device for people that need such a device. It is a little pricey for its feature set, but in reality, you need/want a simple, dependable remote temperature datalogger. This is such a device. From my limited research prior to buying this, I found nothing that even seems reasonably comparable, so I bought it. I am testing temps over time in a variety of environments (server rooms, construction sites, commercial/residential HVAC etc.)I needed such a device. I bought this one. So far, it is working EXACTLY as described and expected. Will follow up over time as needed...

These should come with a more rugged enclosure and they should be brightly colored. Where I use them, I can lose track of them and not be able to find them. Once I stepped on one, and the cover broke. It wasn't a lot of weight, but the covers are weak. For the price. I would think a solid aluminum enclosure would be much better. So far, out of two, one has prematurely stopped working.

Software installation from web site was easy. Data logging setup was also easy. I did an initial data set which took heating outlet temps for my upstairs heat pump for about 12 hours - the main reason I purchased this logger. You can choose how many data points you want depending on how much time you need to get data for - from 10 second logging for 45 hours to 1 minute logging for 11 days. I chose 10 seconds and got over 4700 points in the 12 hours.Getting the text files into graph form within the EasyLog Software is easy, but getting those files into a usable Excel or (in my case) Open Office Calc graph is quite difficult and is not for the novice, I gave up after several failed attempts as there is just an overwhelming amount of data points. However the EasyLog graph actually works quite well in displaying the data for most people, but I found the program slow and hung in "Not Responding" mode quite often in switching between Graph View and Data View. You just need to wait for the program to load the data to the different format. The program also seemed to slow my computer down until I closed it out.You can also zoom in to specific data points for more retailed information. I don't see why I would need Excel or Open Office Calc for the information I need to display.I got some useful information on the operation of my heat pump and will continue to use the logger to generate more data sets. You can save as many logs as you wish then compare the logs. Finally the battery is a special half AA size which might only be available from Lascar - haven't tried yet.

I purchased this data logger to use with an XP SP3 computer. Other reviews suggested problems loading driver. I went to the company website and downloaded the latest software version, and it installed perfectly. I quickly discovered that this is a wonderful device, very well designed and simple to set up and use. Great flexibility. Put the device into a USB port and the data is immediately downloaded and charted. There is also an export function, when you click on that, the data is put into an Excel sheet, along with a chart of the data. Complete flexibility within Excel to manipulate the data. Considering the quality of this product, the price is very reasonable.

This is a piece of junk. I bought this to track the temperature in my refrigerator. I used it overnight in the fridge. Downloaded the data, printed a graph of the data; and then put it back into the fridge to continue to monitor the temperatures. 24 hours later, I went to plug the device into my laptop and it no longer works. The device cannot be recognized. I went to Lascar's website. I downloaded a new driver, I uninstalled and installed new software. The logger seems to be invisible. The battery is brand new. The device no longer works. What's the point of using a temperature logger that is only good for one day? DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS THING.

We have used this item for about 3 weeks to monitor temps where medications are stored. It is simple easy to use: the software is basic but functional and allows exporting to Excel; you can quickly set up new temp logs, including changing the frequency of temps taken; it is very small, so it fits anywhere. People in the clinic next to us also use the same product (and are the ones who recommended this one to us). They are very satisfied with it as well.
