Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include and it is the preferred choice for Asian vehicles.

Replaced rear shocks and coil springs on rear for a big improvement. Good quality and price.

This is my 4th set of various KYB shocks, the gas charge is stiffer than OE which helps with overall cornering control. My only complaint (and why 4 star) is that all my other KYB struts started to surface rust significantly in only 8 months. I live in West coast and so road salt not used often (mostly rain). The coating should be thicker and much more rust resistant. The 13 year old OE shocks had zero rust on them (Honda OE rear shocks have a rubber like coating that protects them for life). KYB could do better and would earn a 5 star rating!

My 04 Honda Odyssey seem to still ride and handle well just fine. Its when I decided to give it the Up and Down bounce test to see if the shocks and struts were doing there job. Good thing I decided to check because the rear shocks more then once, indicating a weak or defective damper. That's when I decided to look for a replacement set of shocks that were not OEM, But performed the same or better. I often used The KYB brand on many of my cars in the past and found they were the best at ride control with just that right feel of stability. The KYB Excel-G gas shocks are excellent on the Honda Odyssey, controlling bounce over street imperfections and those Speed bumps that can test your suspension when you go over them a bit to fast.( That's when I realized my old shocks were not doing there job). The cost for the KYB's is reasonable, considering the over priced OEM units. Avoid MOnroe's, they are inferior in any form. Recommended

Easy install. Ride is ok, even with & without 500lb cargo load & 70 lbs on a hitch rack. The OEM shocks were shot (bouncy) with 100K on them. I should do the front struts too but I am kinda lazy & cheap. Plus the ride is accepable with only new shocks. Only have 1Kmi on the shocks now so I don't know about their longevity.

These shocks were for my 2004 Honda Odyssey. They came complete and ready to install. Quick and easy installation - was done both sides in about an hour. The ride was remarkably improved, but the shocks that were being replaced were absolutely shot. Long term quality and durability is unclear, but first impressions are great!

Took me about an hour to swap both shocks on my Pilot including getting the tools ready and cleaning up after. The shocks work as well as I would want, it's a pilot not a sports car. Ride is much improved in the rear but I bought it with a blown drivers shock so hard to compare with OEM. Still having said that I am more than happy with my purchase!

Got the shocks delivered, can't beat the price with Prime shipping as well. Ride feels good so far, easy to install.A couple of notes:1.Leave the retaining strap on. this way, when you install them you don;'t have to hammer the bottom of the shock on as I saw in a video. Slip the bottom on, the cut the strap and the top will rise slowly; guide it into position. You will need to jack the suspension up just a little to get it to line up.2. Use Loctite 242 (blue ) on the nuts and bolts ( see 3.)3. I did one side, no problem, Went to the other - upper bolt missing! An independent shop did the shocks and struts a few years ago. From what I have read in other places, you do need to use Loctite and from what I can see on the other bolt and nut, they didn't. So, obviously that was part of the "shocks are shot" feeling, but that shock was completely toasted anyways.4. If this happens to you, and the Honda dealer doesn't have a replacement bolt... ...Tractor Supply, bless their hearts, has 12mm x 1.25 x 80mm bolts, 8.8 . You have to cut the bolt down a bit and taper it like the OEM bolt or it will hit the body. I didn;t use the 70mm bolt because I wanted the shock riding completely on the bolt shank. The 70mm would probably work if you don't have a grinder etc.

We purchased a used 2004 Odyssey a couple years ago and recently I began to notice some instability when going over bumps on the road. The wheel would bounce multiple times(signs of worn out strut). I went ahead and ordered a new KYB Excel-G Struts for all for wheels along with a spring compressor for the front. Now that all four wheels are replaced handling is firmer, more stable and handles bumps effortlessly.Odyssey Installation Note:The rear is easiest to install and do not require a spring compressor. The front struts are rather difficult to install and require a spring compressor. When removing the top hat from the strut care must be used so that you don't take apart the ball bearing portion. One can use a screw driver to separate the bottom of the top hat portion from the spring perch. Being as I didn't know this at the time, ball bearings when flying both times I disassembled the front struts. I found them(most of them) and put them back and reassembled the struts. In general, for most people, unless you have experience working with spring compressors I would recommend a complete front set which includes the strut, spring and top hat. While more costly, will make the installation much easier. You would basically take out the old set and put in the new and not have to deal with compressing the spring or the top hat.
