Stringing Your Ukulele

1

1.Find the strings in the package, and please note that the labels 1 2 3 4 mean A E C G.

2.Take out the 4th string, tie a knot at the end of the string (a single knot for the two thicker strings, double knot for the two thinner strings).

3.Insert the knot into the string grooves on the bridge.

4.Drag the loose string to the tuning peg and thread the loose string into the string post, Turn around and thread into the string post again.

5.Turn the tuning peg counterclockwise to tighten the string

6.Use the same process to install the rest of the strings.

7.Cut off any excess string.

8.Pre-tune your ukulele, and check the action. We recommend 0.5mm at 1st fret. 2.8-3mm at the 12th fret.

9.If the action is too high, loosen the string and take off the saddle. Sand the saddle bottom slightly and reinstall it back to check the action. Repeat until you have the proper action.

My daughter absolutely loved making her own ukulele with this kit. It was a great way for her to learn about music and be creative. Highly recommend as a gift.

My kids have been playing with their DIY ukuleles non-stop since we built them. It's a great way to keep them entertained and engaged in a creative activity.

So, it contains everything you need but this isn't a project you're going to pop together in a couple hours. I probably spent 30+ hours on this, though most of that was due to intricate finishing I did. It wasn't in great shape, though my dowel hole was in the right spot.Negatives:Body had a hairline crack.Sides didn't match up perfectly with the top and back leaving ridges that needed to be sanded down.Fretboard and frets were one piece molded plastic.Bridge screw holes were not in the right spot.Strings were not even usable for mock up.Positives:It was really cheap.I was able to get my hands on everything I needed to replace and still come in under budget. It looks pretty now.It was really cheap. It sounds really nice!I chucked the fretboard right out of the gate and ordered a rosewood one with great pre installed. The bridge placement was off by a significant margin so I had to figure out where it should have been mounted (the fretboard I used was the same scale length so this want related to the replacement). I spent a ton of time on the finish, and though the veneer is super thin, the wood did look nice and took stain and dye well. The strings won't hold a tune at all. I planned on replacing them anyway, but I thought I'd say least be able to use the ones it came with to test it out. They just continually stretch forever and fade flat every time their plucked. However, once I got the kinks worked out and strung it up with quality strings I was really impressed with the sound. In the end I'm happy with the final product for the time and money I put into it. Don't expect to just snap it together in an afternoon though, and your going to need some baseline luthier skills if you want something that is payable.

Perfect give for our musician son-in-law! He absolutely loved it for his birthday present and is so excited to to both build it and play it! Received in good condition and well packaged! Thank you.

While it almost works, many of the parts don't fit and you get no customer support from the seller. It does offer some teachable moments. Overallhowever this is disappointing.

Generally the product is okay. I had high hopes because of some of the reviews and my previous experience with DIY guitar kits was very good. The kit is poorly packaged so of course it came with the body chipped. Several of the pre-drilled holes did not line up making the strings on the fretboard look terrible, had to remove the bridge and move it a good half an inch away from its pre-drilled holes so that the strings could be somewhat centred. Also several steps require glue which of course was not provided, would’ve been nice to know since this was a gift. Another issue was that none of the strings were labeled (as the instructions said they were) so you had to visually compare them all for thickness. All in all, the product was okay because it was purchased for a 3 year old who really wanted a guitar, so for him to explore music and decide if he wants something better this was a good buy for the price. But in regards to complete kit and quality it was a disappointment

I was excited to put this kit together. Unfortunately, it has a major flaw that will make it unusable. I am leaving this review because it's something subtle that a beginning might not notice: the fret board is essentially wrong. It's just a few millimeters off, but gets progressively worse as you move down the neck. This means that the ukulele could never truly be tuned correctly, i.e. if you are in tune at the nut (the lowest notes on each string), you are going to be about an eight of a semitone flat at the 12th fret (the highest notes on each string). As well, the fretboard that came with the kit is not the one that is in the photos.

Well I didn't have to high of hopes but what the hell there was no glue to put it together and the strings were not marked at all so its a game to try and figure out what one is what its ok if you just want somthing to show but not play.

It's a good starter kit . Nothing negative to say about this . Was never going to actually build a Ukulele, I had something else in mind for it . Built my 1st cigarbox instrument with this kit . Xmas gift for my son .

Very warm, rich tone. Can’t stop playing it. Couldn’t be happier with it especially for the price. I understand why people say Baritone ukes are gateway drugs to a guitar. It really is.

This was so much fun to paint and build, but it sounds horrible. The tuning stays for .0003 seconds, then is gone. However it is a great craft at a good price. 10/10 for crafts, 1/10 for music.
