IRONTEK Fan Clutch Functions

The fan clutch controls how quickly the cooling fan spins against the radiator. The hotter the engine gets, the more the fan has to spin. If the fan clutch is not functioning correctly, the fan won’t spin at the right speed and therefore can’t provide the cooling needed. It could spin too much and waste power coming from the engine, or spin too little and not cool the engine enough.

It took me about 20 min. max to install this fan clutch on my 2003 Suburban. It is very loud for some reason but works fine.

Fan clutch is very loud makes the vehicle sound like it is straining to go if you like a quiet vehicle I do not recommend this clutch for your fan

Does not work like it is supposed to. At cold start-up it is fully engaged. After about 1/4 mile it disengages as it should. As soon as the engine reaches normal running temperature, it fully engages again and never disengages again. The constant roaring of the fan is deafening. I loose almost all engine power to the wheels and my fuel economy went from 19 MPG to about 8 MPG. It should disengage as the RPMs increase but it doesn't. If you are even considering buying this fan clutch, keep looking elsewhere.
