Ironclad Heavy Utility Work Gloves HUG, High Abrasion Resistance, Performance Fit, Durable, Machine Washable, (1 Pair), LARGE, Black & Grey

Amazon.com

Ironclad has given hands a new lease with their high-tech approach to glove design. Ironclad gloves are made to protect workers' hands better than other work gloves, without feeling clumsy the way so many work gloves can. The first thing we noticed about these gloves is that they're tailored to fit the natural curve hands have in a resting position, rather than being cut straight, so when the hand isn't working, it can actually relax without the glove pulling the fingers in an uncomfortable direction. The palm of this general-utility glove is made of Amara, a synthetic material that mimics the resilience, grip, and comfort of suede while remaining machine-washable and resistant to water damage. High-wear areas are reinforced with tough DuraClad fabric, making these the toughest-grip gloves we've ever worn. The fingertips are also reinforced, yet we had no problem with dexterous tasks like picking up coins. We also like the cut of the cuff on these gloves. It comes in tight to the wrist to prevent dirt or other materials from pouring in. Why so many other gloves have gaping cuff designs is a mystery. While the gloves themselves won't be damaged by water, they won't keep your hands dry for long if you're working in really wet conditions. But that can be said of most work gloves, and everything considered, Ironclad gloves are some of the toughest, most comfortable, and easiest-to-work-in gloves we've tried. --Brian Trinen

As someone who takes on various DIY projects, the Ironclad Heavy Utility Work Gloves have become an indispensable part of my toolkit. These gloves have proven their worth in numerous tasks, from handling rough materials to performing detailed work that requires a good grip and dexterity. The high abrasion resistance is a standout feature. I’ve used these gloves while working with lumber, bricks, and even metal, and they’ve held up exceptionally well without showing significant signs of wear. The performance fit ensures they’re snug but comfortable, allowing me to maintain a good feel for the tools I’m using. One thing I particularly appreciate is the durability combined with flexibility. The gloves are tough enough to protect my hands from blisters and cuts, yet they don’t feel overly stiff, which is a common issue with other work gloves. This balance is crucial when you’re working on projects that require both protection and precision. The fact that they’re machine washable is a huge plus. After a day of heavy use, I can toss them in the wash, and they come out looking almost new. It saves me the hassle of having to replace them frequently, which adds to their value. On the downside, they might feel a bit warm during hot weather due to their thick material. However, this is a trade-off I’m willing to accept given their durability and protective qualities. For anyone who engages in regular DIY activities or requires reliable hand protection for their work, these gloves are a great choice. They provide the right mix of toughness and comfort, making tough jobs easier on the hands.

I'm not one to give off bad reviews lightly. In this case I just have to. Gloves looked good enough as a lot of effort is put into logos and details, unfortunately this is what they look like after 3 days of heavy use, the leathery parts dont survive strain and the sticthing is close to falling apart.I needed them for a two month stint, at this rate I'll destroy one pair per week. Someone clearly has to rethink what they consider hard/tough work.

Used with lumber mill work, hasn't ripped open like the other gloves so far.

These are now my favorite gloves and I'll be buying more when they finally wear out... Which they haven't started to do yet! We stacked and bundled about ten cord of firewood last season, and I bought these about halfway through when my other "name brand" rugged gloves got holes worn through the fingers. Firewood wears out gloves fast! However, these lasted through the season and look like I haven't worn them yet!I use them every day putting wood into our own outdoor wood boiler as well.Only negative: They are not insulated, so in winter, my hands get cold fast.Positives: Durability through the roof! Also, I have small hands and it's really hard to get WORKING gloves that are both rugged and fit me well. You don't want long fingers when you're tying up bundles of firewood. These fit great and they have some features I love: The backs breathe, so you don't sweat, they have adjustable wrists to prevent them from slipping off, and they went so far as to reinforce the front of the wrist where you grab them to pull them on. There's a small plastic ridge there so you can easily grab the cuff to pull one on even when the other glove is already on. Great design!Update April 2020: After a LOT of wood stacking, firewood bundling for our store, and moving logs and large rocks, these are only now wearing out. I've lost a couple of the pads on the front and the stitching thread is now catching my fingers when I put them on. Still, these have been the best-wearing gloves I have ever owned. I'm still using them for pulling wire fencing while we're building a chicken run and for moving rocks and wood, but I would no longer be able to use them when pulling raspberry bushes, so I'm now ordering a second pair. Considering every other brand lasted me barely 6 months, these are incredible.

I've worn my first pair out, and I will be purchasing them again, they are that good.I bought these gloves for a specific project, moving a pile of rocks, a very large pile of rocks. The rocks varied in size from baseball to basketball sized, and were a variety of types. One thing was for sure, there were a lot of rocks. These gloves held up like champs. I really put them through their uses and they lasted long enough to finish the project, which took most of the summer, moving four fully stone laden wheel barrows a day. They didn't quite make it to the end of summer, the seams along two fingers finally gave way, the rocks won that battle. I don't expect gloves to last forever, I just need them to last long enough to get the job done. The fit is fantastic, and just about every feature of this product came into play when I did my project. I even got a lot of use out of the sweat wipe over the thumb, and the protection across the knuckles saved my hands on more than one occasion on this particular project.I am hard on gloves, and tend to go through them, and while these are not the last pair you will ever buy, and they are not indestructible by any means, they do a good job for me. I am not a professional tradesman, so I can't speak to how they would hold up under more rugged conditions, but for my uses around the house, garden and a home wood shop in a non-professional capacity, they are the best I have used in a long time.I consider gloves part of the cost of doing any project, and to spend less than twenty bucks to protect my hands is a small price to add to a project with inherent physical dangers. As I mentioned earlier, my pair did rip along the seams at the ends of the fingers, and if there was a way to reinforce the seams by covering them with another layer of material, I would pay the extra price without so much as a blink. I will be replacing my pair soon enough with another pair of the same brand and style. There are probably better gloves out there, and if you do some research you can find gloves that are considerably more costly, but for my dollar, these are a great value.Got to stick with a winner.

I'm a tree surgeon. And these gloves are by far the best I've had. Comfy, grippy, tough, but even after all that you can still tie knots and fiddle with small clips relatively easily.
