About this item

  • Patented thrust control
  • Cylindrical bearings have a load capacity more than 5 times greater than ball bearings
  • The Eternal Fix is the only Permanent fix on the market
  • Avoid ball bearing solutios on the market

The Patented IMS Eternal Fix Retro Fit installs in-car without removal or disassembly of the engine required. The Cylindrical Bearing with Thrust Control design has a load capacity 5 times greater than the inferior, failure prone, Ball Bearing solutions on the market! Cylindrical are commonly used in very High Load, High Temp, Low Viscosity Lubrication applications such as Automatic Transmissions. If you are reading this then you are aware of the ever so common IMS Bearing Failures. The design flaw with the factory IMS was the use of Ball Bearings in an extremely high load application. Once the Ball Bearings Fail it leads to a Catastrophic and Expensive engine rebuild. How it works: While the engine is running, this area is saturated with engine oil. Bearing Race: The Bearing Race is the raised hardened steel surface edge of the Bearing Chassis (located on either side of the Bearing). This surface provide a friction point with the Retro Fit Base and the Friction Washer. This provides the patent-pending axial thrust control required when using Cylindrical Bearings. Friction Plate: The Friction Plate is a hardened steel washer that provides the inner friction point with the Bearing Race Retro Fit Base Friction Surface: This provides the outer friction point with the Bearing Race The Cylindrical Bearings provide the radial load support for the IMS. Cylindrical Bearings are the only true permanent fix. Do not replace your ball bearings with more ball bearings! 5 Year Warranty!

I had this installed on my 2000 986 Base and I got the clutch, flywheel & RMS done at the same time. The total cost to me was about $4200 including the cost of this bearing, which is the best engineered IMS retrofit available. I was very happy with it afterward and more than worth it for the peace of mind

My Porsche specialist said he had no issues at all and tech support is first class. My original beating showed no outward signs of wear at 80k miles, but why risk failure when the clutch was being done anyway. Now I can enjoy the car with no worries and have a nifty Porsche paperweight

Great product that has been put in thousands of motors by a famous motor builder without one failure.

This is a very elegant solution to solve a problem that really should not exist in the first place... Shame on you, Porsche... That said, I still love the cars and I had 6k miles on this bearing kit in my prior 996 when I sold it. Now I and am shopping for another to have installed in the 996 I bought to replace the one I sold. I can't figure out why the LN products are so much more expensive, and most of their bearings require swap again after 50k miles?

I did research on various solutions available to fix/replace the Intermediate Shaft bearing on Porsche M96 engines. This bearing is prone to failure rendering your engine unrebuildable. A replacement engine cost in excess of $10K so is important to address this although yours may or may not fail. After careful examination and reading of reviews in multiple Porsche forums, I decided on this solution fron European Parts, mostly because I will be able to take out the cap during my next clutch change and check the condition of the roller bearing itsel. This you will not be able to do if using other sealed-bearing solutions. The explanation of the technology used at their website is good and the installation videos are precise and easy to understand. I'm comfortable working on vehicles and would rate this job with a difficulty level of 5/10 (1 representing changing oil and 10 rebuilding an engine).I've done two IMS replacements; the first one using an OEM IMS on my previous car, a 99 Boxster and this one for my current 03 C4S. The first time I did not use the recommended removal/installation tool so it took longer (4 hours) since I had to 'jerry-rig' a puller. This time I purchased the recommended removal tool and it only took 1 hour, 1/2 hour removing/installing the bearing and 1/2 hour installing the oil pump slotted shaft to provide constant oil feed to the bearing. I suggest getting the removal/installation tool. This tool is available from various places on the Internet and they vary in price. The tool would only be needed to remove the original IMS since the EPS kit provides a special tool to aid in the installation. So far, I've put 2000 miles on the kit, with an oil change after 1000 miles to check for particles. Not a single visible particle was found so I say, all is good in that department. Now I can enjoy my Porsche like it was designed to without fear of grenading the engine :)
