Simply plug Hypertech's Speedometer Calibrator into the vehicle's under-dash connector, select the new tire height and/or new rear gear ratio, and in a matter of minutes, the vehicle's computer is reprogrammed for accurate readings as required by law.

All you have to do is follow the prompts. I did have to update it for my truck and did exactly what the instruction said. ( need a non-apple operating system) I did have to do it twice to adjust the speedometer to the GPS speed but in the end, my spam appears to be right on target. Would buy again.

Was able to calibrate two vehicles. However, when I tried to calibrate a third vehicle I was told by Hpertech that it was only for a single vehicle. No where in the details of this instrument does it state that it is for a single vehicle. Would probably not bought it if I had known this up front.

Works exactly like it’s described to do. Speedometer is dead on and transmission now shifts correctly.Had to update before it would work, it will tell you so when you connect to the pickup. After update reconnect and follow directions on the screen. Two things before programming the pickup, measure your tire from the ground to the top of the tire, this number is what will be used for tire diameter. Know your pinion gear ratio. Both of these will be needed to program successfully.

Downloaded the appropriate software for the vehicle. In the vehicle the progarmmer went through all the steps and completed the update, but it didn't change the speedometer reading. I road tested it after each programming attempt and still no change comparing the speed to a known accurate GPS speedometer. Four times and still nothing. I tried different diameters just to see if it would work but still it said it programmed the ECU 100% but still no change. Returned.Going with HPtuners and buy credits just to change the speedometer as the truck runs real good on regular gas no tune needed. It's faster than my Tahoe that has a premium fuel tune. I'm not new to performance tuning and I'm not going to waste time trying to get some poorly made tool to function.

The product received was for a different vehicle. I tried to have them send out the correct product but was told I need to return and rebuy. So I tried to update the software (FYI, it is not internet updatable) I Called Hypertch tech support I was told that I would have to pay an additional $135 plus tax to unlock the device. Making this thing unusable to anyone that does it want to pay a ridiculous fee to use it.

First off, I am using the programmer on a very modified 2002 GMC Sonoma. The engine, trans, and ECU are stock, but I have a Ford 9" rear axle with 5.29 gears and 35" tires. The Hypertech unit allowed me to input the 35" tires, but will only allow for up to 4.56 gearing. I emailed tech support asking if it's possible to update the unit with the computer program to allow for 5.29 gearing, and if not, if I can input a 30.25" tire with the 4.56 gears to achieve the same tire:gear ratio as what I am actually running on the vehicle. The replies did not answer either question, were written in incomplete sentences, appeared annoyed that I would even ask, and appeared to be from overseas. I am very disappointed in the company, as they used to be so highly rated.

Running LT315/75R15 on my 2001 Durmax the speedometer was always about 7mph too low at 65mph although my Edge tunner would show the correct speed the speedometer was incorect. I was finally able to correct this with the hypertech.. it took some trial and error playing with the tire size input to get it to match with my GPS.I did have problems updating the unit with the correct firmware. when I called Hypertech tech support they recomended trying a different usb cable because he said the ones that come with the unit are really cheep.. so i found a old USB microB cable and it worked the first try.. other than that no problems .

Once I updated the device it was very straight forward. To get an accurate calibration you should do some measuring and some math to calculate you tire's actual size or trial and error checking against GPS. My 35"s aren't actually 35s and it turned out using 33" put me spot on for accuracy. Still had to use a different device to reprogram my ABS tire size.
