The throttle cable works good. It is very smooth and sturdy. I didn't look at the handle orientation when I ordered so the handle is backwards. My fault. Other than that it works great.

Old handle snapped at the intersection between the plastic handle and the metal lever after goodness knows how many years of use. This replacement seems to be of good quality and functions as it should. Odd part is that, contrary to other reviews, the cable was a good six inches longer than the original (in a YTH 2042 mower). However, it does do its job.

The cable is definitely too short. Fortunately I only needed the throttle handle (the entire cable assembly is a single part); so I swapped the original cable and it works great.
