Loose ring style cheekpieces allow greater movement and prohibit the horse from leaning on the rider's hands. This bit is competition legal for most dressage classes.

I bought this for my horse who previously went in a Herm Sprenger Duo, because he chewed through that bit quicker than I would have expected and I wanted something more affordable.First, the description of this as a "soft" rubber bit is not at all true. This has a very solid core - there is no bend to this at all. I actually like that! The rubber itself is definitely chewable, but it's a very firm rubber. Softer than the Duo's nylon material for sure, but I would not call this "soft" at all. Yes, I was weird and put it in my mouth to test it, and I would say it's got a tiny bit of give but is otherwise very rigid.The rings are smaller than those of the Duo, and the bit itself is a bit thicker though not drastically so. I got the 5 1/4", which is the size he was in before, and I'd say it's true to size.Overall, I'm pleased with this and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Can't comment on longevity yet, but it seems like a good buy for the price for now.

The mouthpiece is quite thick for a pony. I may not be able to use this item but for a horse it may work fine. I do not have a horse.🤔 Yet?
