I accidentally stretched the original spring. The new came the next day! Fit perfectly. And I'm back in business. Thanks!

Glad they offered this otherwise the lawnmower would have been useless

My HRX217 (GCV190 engine) is 5 1/2 years old. I confirmed with a tachometer [FOUNDOWN Engine Hour Meter Inductive Tachometer] that the speed (with blades engaged) was running around 2920 RPM. After changing out the governor spring, it now runs at 3030-3040 RPM, which is within spec. Changing out the spring was easy.As an aside note: Make sure that when your mower is running on the high-speed setting notch, that it doesn't rev higher if you push further on the knob. If it does rev higher when pushing it past the fast position notch, then you need to adjust the cable so that the high-speed setting is fully engaging the throttle. If you push the lever further past the fast position notch and the speed stays the same, then the slack is adjusted up just fine. You will find the cable adjustment screw located under the throttle lever. Those control cables do stretch over time and need the slack taken up. Do that before fiddling with changing out the governor spring.

I own the Husqvarna HU700F 22" self propelled lawnmower (Honda engine) - anyway, I think the lawnmower is great. The one problem I do have with the HU700F is that the governor spring (the actual product I'm reviewing) is in an extremely vulnerable position. Located on the left, exterior side of the engine the gov spring is all alone, out in the open. I got too close to a bush/shrub and a branch snagged the spring and stretched it out like crazy - thus killing the engine speed. Even with a stretched out spring the lawn mower still runs but is easily slowed down (possibly to the point where it stops) by thicker patches of grass, etc. The governor spring prevents the engine from slowing and maintains the (high) speed of your engine.anyway, if you determine this is the gov spring you need, I assure you it's a quality, original Honda part (small bag has Honda's logo on it).For $6 bucks I ordered 2 because apparently I'm too brutal with the mower - if it happens again - I'm ready.Pictures I provided:1. New spring2. New spring compared to stretched out spring.3. Spring placement in mower (you may have to use a pair of pliers to hook up the new spring). Don't be afraid to stretch the new spring a little bit to get it in place. I was worried because it didn't seem to reach the holes - i hooked one side and slowly pulled the other side until it reached the proper length. It was fine.Peace! Go Pens!
