Description:
AHT21 a new generation of temperature and humidity sensors, sets a new standard in size and intelligence: it is embedded in a dual-row flat leadless SMD package for reflow soldering with a 4 x 5mm bottom and a height of 1.6mm. The sensor outputs a calibrated digital signal in standard I2C format. The AHT21 is equipped with a newly designed ASIC-specific chip, an improved MEMS semiconductor capacitive humidity sensing element and a standard on-chip temperature sensing element. Its performance has been greatly improved beyond the reliability level of previous generation sensors. The first generation of temperature and humidity sensors have been improved to make them more stable in harsh environments.
Note:
Please make sure put it in the environment of humidity greater than 80% for 12 hours to ensure the accuracy is restored before using.
Characteristics:
1. Module size: 16*11 mm
2. Interface type: I2C
3. Working voltage: 1.8 - 6.0 V

Does the job for what I need it for

Neither sensor could be found by my I2C scanner. Solder joint quality is very poor.

I bought a K-type thermocouple to use with an Arduino and this to measure a popcorn maker temperature. I had to put connectors on the ends of the thermocouple because this is not the right spacing for the thermocouple-type connectors. You'll likely need to put your own connectors on any thermocouple to use with this device, just FYI.Works great for my purposes.

AHT20 library returns humidity and temp as float variables. I avoided cleaning the flux off after soldering the pins to keep solvent out of the sensor opening.

Parts wouldn't ACK to an i2c scan. Stopped debugging when I noticed one of the two was missing components on the board.

1/2 of the units I recieved worked correctly and responded to I2C. This distributor is not properlly testing boards before release given that I'm not alone. The one sensor that is working - I'm getting +/-7 error on tempurature and +/- 5% on relative humidity. After reviewing the datasheet for this product I have determined the board used in this product does not meet the minimum spec for the pull-up resistor 2.0-4.7KΩ (this uses 6k for some very WRONG reason).

Bought 2, one to prototype on a breadboard and one for the final build. Spent 2 hours trying to connect it over I2C before reading these reviews. Soldered a header onto the second one and slapped it onto my breadboard, and it worked perfectly. But now I need to buy another for the final build without header pins

This is a home-grown Chinese sensor which does the job of T & RH measurement at an amazingly low cost. That said, the chip maker, Aosong, has made the choice to publish the datasheet for it only in the language of the country of origin, which is new, but not entirely surprising. At any rate, it only took me part of an evening to chase down enough information and example code to be able to write my own code for it for a Raspberry Pi project, and I am quite pleased with what the device delivers.
