If you hat is pressing into your forehead a little too hard, you probably need it. I needed it. Everything seemed dandy at first but then, maybe it was the humidity, my cowboy hat seemed to shrink in a bit. The red mark got worse and my headache was pronounced. So time to get stretching.I love this style, it's so easy to use. Shrink it in all. Fit it to the hat and then spin the center bar to stretch the hat. You can spin as much as possible and then let it sit over night. You can go ahead and test it next day or spin it a bit more for additional stretch. The spinning lever is so easy to use. And the pieces themselves feel very sturdy. You can also leave the stretcher in the hat to help maintain shape.I think these things are worth every penny. Used correctly they can save you a trip to find someone to help shape your hat.

This is a proper hat stretcher. Easy to use and did an excellent job of stretching one of my favorite hats, which was snug when new, but continued to get tighter as it aged. This stretcher brought it back to the original size and then some. Very happy with the results. It is a bit tricky to align until you have enough contact with the inner band on the hat, but after that, it is a breeze to turn the shaft with the handy cross-pin. Not sure I'll use it, but it came with a nice felt bag for storage.

CANWUPON Hat Stretcher for Fitted Hats (ASIN : B0DRFRV5DM) I got the smaller, 2-way stretcher. I wanted to try to stretch a cloth cap, with a small elastic section in the back. It's a nice woven fabric cadet style hat, but just a little too small. It gave me a headache, and left a ridge across my forehead after a couple of hours. It says it's One Size Fits all, but it feels like a women's Small, when I need a Medium. This stretcher expands from 7 to 11 inches, stretching hats two ways. The listing says this equals a circumference of 21 to 28 inches. My head size is about 21.5". This stretcher might be too big for some women's heads. I chose this style because the leverage needed to resize looked easier for my arthritic hands. It doesn't come with any instructions. I was hoping for some sort of guidance, like X turns opens the stretcher Y inches, so I don't overstretch my hat. Instead, I just had to guess when it's taut enough, and how long I need to leave it on the stretcher. I opened it up until the hat fit on it snugly, then sprayed some shoe stretch on it (I was going to use plain water, but I had this on hand) then gave it 4 more half cranks, and let it sit. This got the circumference to about 25 inches - yikes - but I'm trying to stretch the solid sides, and there is elastic in the back. This is a big experiment - lol. I left the hat on it for a couple of days, and when I took it off, I could tell it worked, without overstretching the back elastic. The hat is now a tiny bit loose, so hopefully no more headaches. I did some measuring, and roughly, every 5 half turns (180 degrees) makes about a half inch change in the size. The stretcher comes with a nice velveteen storage bag.

If you've ever wondered how a hat size is determined, simply measure the circumference of your head at the position where a hatband would comfortably sit on your head, and divide by Pi (3.17).And if you're like me, someone with a larger than 'normal' head and hat size, it won't matter if you can do that calculation or not because most places that sell western style hats don't have hats much larger than 7 1/2 or so and my choices of western hats went something like this.Wool hat that fits a bit too tight -- $200Beaver felt hat that fits a bit too tight -- $400Custom made beaver felt hat that fits perfectly --$1200So I went for years without having a hat I truly enjoyed wearing. And then I found the CANWUPON hat stretcher and my hat now fits me comfortably and I could not be happier.Easy to use, makes adjusting easy, works great and is amazingly cost effective. I'm pleased beyond words.

Excellent for stretching a hat or blocking to maintain it's shape and keep it from shrinking. Was easy to use and would buy again.

The quality of this is excellent being that it's made out of wood and metal. The inner metal turn piece is extremely hard to turn so this may not work for someone who has dexterity issues. I specifically got this to stretch a cowboy hat but after utilizing it I realized it needed to be stretched in all four directions not just two. With that being said, I highly recommend you upgrade to the four-way hat stretcher rather than this one that only provides a two way stretch.

I collect hats & have a pork pie one that fit but snuggly. I got this stretcher on a whim but with low expectations. What a wonderful surprise that it worked perfectly. It was easy to use & could have stretched a hat larger than mine (I have a pretty big head). It stretched the hat so that it fits very comfortably on my head now. The stretcher is well made & I suspect will work well for as long as I’ll need it.
