This product is essentially what you get if you want a great quality modular climbing wall without too much DIY effort put in. The plywood panels are very thick and great quality, the hardware is built to withstand all the rigors the handholds could be put through by climbers. But it does, as others have said, fall short in regards to the handholds, they are high quality in terms of durability and general finish, but have little diversity in the types of grips and are too simple to adapt to provide long term challenge to enthusiastic climbers. But the real reason for star deduction is plain and simple the value does not justify the price. I installed the panels and grips in a staggered vertical fashion to get the most climbing room out of the three panels, it is relatively straightforward and good for someone looking to complete a climbing wall project easily.

First the box is really heavy. It needs more padding to protect the edges as mine are pretty dinged up. It was missing the screws to attach to the wall as well. I could go buy some but it says they are included and the price is already really high.

For this much money it needs to be a lot better. First, the instructions are very minimal, no instruction on what size drill bit to use for the anchors and no instruction on what size allen wrench to use, because it's not included (your guess is as good as mine on the drill bit size but the allen wrench was a 6mm). Once you get past this and follow the direction of installing it into studs you will realize the holes are not 16in apart, if you want to install this in any home in America without it ripping out of the wall you will end up drilling your own holes. Second, after you get past this and start to install the actual climbing hardware you will find that about half of them have pretty thick pieces of plastic left over from the mold process and you will need to drill them out to install them. Make sure you use a bench vise or something other than your hands because they will twist on you and if they do there's a chance they will cut you, like they did me. Lastly, and this is just an FYI, if you plan to install them in the 12ft orientation the instructions caution you to not install them above 10ft.

When I purchased this I did not expect for how durable the boards would be. Heavy duty and durable. Will take two people to install these once I find a helper. I’m petite so putting one of these up high on the wall will be challenging for me. As of the appearance I’m the boards are made to last and have good quality to them. Once these get installed I’ll update the review if I have any issues installing. Decent sized for my 7yr old who is also petite.

This climbing wall is fantastic for my kids. They are older so I needed something that was more appropriate for their age (7-10).It is made very well and holds their weight nicely. They love climbing on this and letting out some energy. I am very happy with this purchase!

My wife built a climbing wall for our grandkids in the basement and I thought I would add to it with these climbing panels. I'm not sure I'm going to do so, though, because though these are well-made panels, they fall short of the method my wife used in making a climbing wall.Let me begin by acknowledging that I got these as an Amazon Vine reviewer which means that I didn't pay for the item--I received it free in return for this review. Though free of charge from Amazon, this item will end up costing me over $100 in taxes at the end of the year. Ironically, that's about what the holds for the homemade climbing wall my wife built cost. Home brew climbing walls are going to be cheaper but I can't rate this down on price. For the cost you're getting ready-built panels, and if you're using a concrete wall as the backing for your climbing wall, panels are MUCH easier to install than individual holds. So if you're reconciled to panels and willing to pay the price, these are well-made panels. They aren't big, and that's one of the reasons I may not use them. Each panel is 4'x2' with ten included holds placeable in any of 18 pre-drilled holes on each panel. The full set gives you thirty holds in a 24 square foot area. I'd rather have those holds spread over 48 square feet, and you could use the holds with homemade panels to do so, but that kind of defeats the purpose in buying pre-built panels since you could buy individual holds and do the same.In addition, the holds are all fairly big and easy. There's little variety in the holds and each board repeats the same ten holds as the others. You can vary orientation and placement, but the holds are still fairly easy.In the end I recommend these boards, but mostly for people wanting to introduce young children to basic climbing. If you have a 12-14 foot wall, the boards can be placed in portrait orientation, making for a taller, thinner climbing area that would be more fun for bigger children.Quality of craftsmanship is fine. The boards are solid, as are the holds.
