Well Amazon garage let me down for the first time. This does not fit the premium trim 2012 Foresters and I'm not sure it fits any of the 2012 versions despite the green 'fit check'. The correct part number is 23780AA160 and I went ahead bought it direct from Subaru.

I was having a very hard time turning my steering wheel between 10 - 40 MPH. My first try was to replace the power steering fluid, which seemed to help a little bit. I thought I would have to end up going to the local Pick-a-part to get a new power steering pump.Since the car is 12 years old, I decided I would just spend the ~$30 for the belt and the tool. I gave it a shot and low and behold that did it. I have no problems steering and no noises. While I was at it I also replaced the accessory belt.Definitely get the installation tool, I am not sure it would have been as easy without it.

There was noise every time I changed direction when I parked, and there was noise(the front wheel of the passenger side when listening from the driver's seat, Exactly from the power steering pump) even when driving at low speed . After the belt change, all the noise disappeared. And the handling became smooth again like a new car. Installation is also very easy. - recommended to change the Air Conditioning belt(with tool) as well. and power steering fluid flush.

This belt fit on my Subaru Outback 2005 Turbo. I'm not sure about the durability since apparently my power steering pump or something was the reason my other belt broke to start with so this one broke pretty quickly. However, I'm sure it wasn't the belt because I took it to a mechanic who fixed the power steering and he said that's why my was belt was breaking. It seemed like a quality belt and it was a perfect fit.

I bought this because my belts would squeal when I turned the steering wheel more than a few degrees while at a stop sign. The belt works great and was easy to install. The numbers don't match up perfectly with OEM (my original belt number was: 5PK874, this is 5PK875). I did some research and found that this one is 1 mm longer (875 mm vs 874 mm). It should make for easier installation and the alternator still has plenty of room for adjustment so I'm not worried about length. I tensioned it to about what the stretch belt behind it felt like, cranked up the car, and started turning the wheel. The power steering it back to working with no squeals. I would recommend replacing the AC belt at the same time and if you have the tension belt get the tensioner tool, it really makes the job easy.

The fit it a little tight on my 2010 Forester 2.5 non-turbo with 75,000 ish miles. I had to turn the crankshaft once manually to get the V to sit in their proper groove. I didn't know how tight it needed to be so I adjusted the alternator mount/tightener until I could barely bend the belt 90 degrees in the longest segment (I google and found that's what pros seem to suggest if you don't have a tensioner tool). This also happened to be almost as tight as my previous belt judging from where the adjuster nut was at previously.Squeak is gone!Note the part number is 1 digit off.
