Check engine light was lit on my 2014 Forester. Opening and closing the gas cap didn't help. I replaced the gas cap with this one and the problem went away.Just be careful to save the tether clip from your old gas cap because this doesn't come with one.

Lost the old cap. Had check engine and cruise control light on. Replaced it with this cap! Had to take it off and back on twice to clear the alarm lights, but it worked great!

I had a P1449 error code that would not go away.It took a week for the car to clear all errors, like check engine, traction control and no cruise control.I cleared the error codes manually but they came back.So be patient for the error to clear. The cap has a strap, but is missing the 1 cent plastic clip fitting it to the car.Luckily the clip still worked after removing the old strap.
