Who knew a little bird could poop so much? I got this to keep this one bird away from the lights wire in our courtyard. Day 2 into "Operation Scary Owl" and no poop! Would recommend.

UPDATE: Oct 20, 2024: We've had Owly patrolling the yard (being moved around by me) for 2 months and 2 days, now, and he does his job well! When we moved into this home, we had a terrible bunny problem that had scalloped the evergreen bushes the winter before we moved here, according to the neighbor, and ate many of the plants I put out this spring. (We have a large stand of trees on one side of us and a field in the back, so it's like living half in town, half on the farm.) The bunnies would be in the backyard 4, 5, up to 7 at a time, especially in the morning - eating, napping, romping, fighting, with little fear of people or dogs. I moved in from the country to care for my elderly parents and was at a loss of how to deal with this. In rural areas, they can be dispatched when they get so thick, but that wasn't an option in town and every other deterrent I tried had no effect. ENTER OWLY and I HAVEN'T SEEN EVEN ONE BUNNY IN THE YARD SINCE OWLY CAME ON THE SCENE! That's not to say that one or two don't wander in and out and I just don't see them, but there was no missing them in the numbers we had prior. I ordered a hawk of the same material and size to do buddy work with Owly. He doesn't seem to be as scary, but makes a good partner when it's time to move them around the yard, one in back, one in front. A squirrel that lives under our back deck learned quickly that these predators weren't real, but the crows and bunnies have stayed out of the yard for the most part. One must be diligent in moving them around and finding new areas to set them in order to keep the vermin on edge. I'm not sure if I'll use them this winter or not. Depends on how much damage I start to notice. I hope these guard birds continue to work year around, but I can't imagine that the wildlife won't eventually catch on. Still, I'd buy Owly again without hesitation. As for the hawk, mmm maybe, but only as a partner to fill in whenever Owly leaves an area, not as a lone yard guarder. Also, both birds look like the day I got them after 2 months in the hot sun, rain and hail....no damage, no fading, (Owly is especially handsome with those BIG eyes!) They've stood up through 30+ mph winds and 40+ mph gusts during some very windy days, never once tipping over. (I have landscaping rock in them.)I'll try to remember to update again after more time passes as to how the backyard patrol is doing.(PS - The fake snake I mention in my original review seemed to work at keeping the larger bugs (mostly grasshoppers) away at first, but soon was of no interest or bother to anything other than an occasional human guest who might spot it and think it was real. Still, I do like it as added interest in the flower bed and don't regret getting it for that reason.)ORIGINAL REVIEW: When I opened the package, my 88 year old mother exclaimed, "Oh, he's so cute!" Hmmm... I hope the rodents don't think the same.Overall, he looks realistic enough. His size is on par with that of a real owl, his eyes are very BIG, and his black, plastic beak comes to a sharp point. The buggy eyes and prominent beak should be enough to at least give some of the visiting vermin reason for pause. He's very light weight and requires a goodly amount of sand or rocks or whatever heavy material you have that will fit through the fill hole on the bottom. I put in about 3 inches of landscaping rocks.I'll be moving Owly around the yard every couple days and will see how his performance compares to that of the fake snake i also bought, even more realistic looking. For now, the owl is in the backyard, the snake is up front. Do your jobs, little fake buddies!(If this guy doesn't perform, I'll be back to report on that. I am deducting one star for the price of this back yard guardian, which I think is a bit high for a hollow plastic owl, even a cute one.)

These owl’s are realistic looking and did the trick getting rid if a couple relentless barn swallows that were instant on making nests under the overhang on our front door. The second one was placed under our pontoon lift. Swallows are gone!

There was a crow nest in our backyard and gave us so much problem. We were not able to go to my balcony and backyard because of them.Purchased these Owls and placed them at our balcony facing our backyard. ‘Bingo!’ We don’t see them for now. Hopefully they don’t come back. So far it does work

I purchased a more expensive mechanical device that did not work. I hung the owl on a king palm to prevent birds from eating my seed when I reseed my lawn. There were more than 10 birds at all times eating my lawn seed despite trying every repellent I could employ. The owl is the only thing that worked and I’m soooo pleased. How you like me Owl! How you like me Owl!! Highly recommend for repelling birds

My bass boat lives outdoors under generic covers. Local cats have been lured in by my success. I weighed this as instructed and prop on my motor cowl. Withstood 40 mph winds and rain. Haven’t seen any cats in a while 🤞

I hung the owl up so it slightly sways in the wind. It has kept the pigeons away. I also installed plastic spikes on a nearby ledge, so that helps too. No pigeons. No pigeon poop at all.
