I looked for months for a home office scanner. I looked at Epson, and Cannon and then finally settled on this one after seeing that the secreatires at work had this brand. Really love it. Easy to set-up. Works on wifi very easily. Also hardwired it into the back of my router and I now can also use it on my home network. Super fast. Crops receipts easily to the size and orientation they should be. Easily to program quick buttons to scan to E-mail, or to specify the type of document you are scanning so it can be saved in a particular folder. Haven't used it enough to get a feel of the automatic file naming, but that is super easy to override so I am not too concerned about it. Great little unit.

I have had a ScanSnap 1300 for many years. It was great when it worked, but paper feeding was hit-or-miss, often jamming with the paper going sideways or multiple sheets slipping through. The software for Mac was increasingly out of date, and it took a lot of search for work-arounds to keep it running. I finally bit the bullet and bought the ix1500. Wow! What an improvement! The paper feed is buttery smooth. The software is fully up to date. The ability to create custom scan profiles is terrific. For example, I created a custom photo profile that scans duplex rather than simplex, discards blank pages, uses "excellent" rather than "best" quality, and minimizes compression. The first two options captures writing that might be on the back of a photo but discards the back image if it is blank. The "excellent" quality is actually BETTER than "best" because it scans at 600 DPI rather than 300 DPI. The "minimal compression" option gives best JPEG quality while still being smaller than TIFF. Setting it up wirelessly was a snap, and for faster file transfer I simply plug it into my Macbook. There are only a few small issues I've discovered so far:- As noted, I had to discover that there is an "excellent" mode for 600dpi rather than the 300dpi "best" mode by trial and error - it is not documented (or at least not in an obvious place).- As far as I can tell, the unit is limited to 8-bit per color depth even in TIFF mode. Flatbed scanners go to 16-bit per color depth or even higher for TIFF. JPEG is limited to 8-bit, and I did not want the size of TIFF files, so this was not a deal-breaker. It could be a deal-breaker for someone doing serious archiving and wanting the highest color fidelity.- Wireless scanning fails if you are doing 600dpi "excellent" mode and have more than about 5 pages in the hopper: the scanner is too fast for the data to transfer to your laptop, and instead of pausing scanning, it just fails. I never had problems with wireless scanning at 300dpi "best" mode.- Other reviews have mention seeing streaks on the scans - particularly thin blue lines. This means that a speck of dirt is stuck to the glass scanner plates. Open the scanner and gently clean the class plates on both sides with a soft cloth and a 50% mixture of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. Eyeglass cleaner works fine too, but I would not use a window cleaner like Windex that has a lot of other chemicals in it. Fujitsu sells a ScanSnap cleaner called "F1" that the reviews say these work well, but it is crazy expensive - $25 for an ounce. l. You use the same fluid for cleaning the various rollers in the unit. I have found it necessary to clean the unit pretty frequently, especially when scanning dusty old photos. The online documentation recommends cleaning the glass daily and the rollers every 1000 pages. This information should be made added to the the quick set up guide.

I have one of the previous models of this scanner at my office, and I use it regularly to scan documents. When I started working from home several months ago, I went looking for that model of scanner to get one for my home. The model had changed, so I decided to take a chance on the new model since I love the one at my office so much. This one has not disappointed! The software is very easy to figure out, and I didn’t have any issue setting it up myself. It scans easily to my files, and is so quick and smooth. I really like that when I have a two sided document, it scans both sides in one pass, and it is easy to see the quality of the scan on my computer screen. Since I bought it myself and I’m using if for work a lot now, when I head back to the office to work I will enjoy using this scanner to digitize my personal paperwork. It will make it quick and easy to keep less paper. I did buy the extra warranty that Amazon sells, just in case I have any issues with it. So far, it’s a great little machine and I’m happy I bought it.

EXCELENTE SCANNER, ES RAPIDÍSIMO AL MOMENTO DE ESCANEAR, LA CALIDAD DE LA IMAGEN ESCANEADA ES BUENA. ES MUY LIGERO Y COMPACTO, NO OCUPA MUCHO ESPACIO. EL SOFTWARE NO ME ENCANTA PERO EL EQUIPO EN SÍ ES UNA GRAN COMPRA. ESCANEA LAS HOJAS POR AMBOS LADOS EN UNA SOLA PASADA, LO CUAL LO HACE AÚN MÁS PRÁCTICO.

I first purchased an Epson scanner for my tax business based on the good reviews and lower price. I returned it in frustration and bought the Fujitsu ScanSnap ix1500. The price was higher, but it’s worth every penny! It was very easy to set up on my WiFi network where I use it on two computers. It scans both sides of documents very quickly and with high quality results. One-touch scanning works perfectly from the scanner’s touch screen or from the computer. The software automatically deletes blank pages and names the file with the date and a few words it reads from the top of the first page. It handles batches of mixed-sized documents (in my case, various tax forms) without skipping documents or causing jams. I highly recommend buying this scanner.

Excellent scanner. I've installed more than my fair share of scanners - this is one of the best. I will no longer use Epson - they suck and Xerox is easily the most fragile brand out there. I would give this 5 stars but they include Nuance Power PDF in the box with a serial number. Great deal, right? Wrong. They fail to tell you that it's a 15 day license - kinda disappointing after a 15 min Windows 3 feel installation procedure. Really? What a joke.Paper handling is excellent; Scan speed is blindingly fast. I don't need any of the silly features they provide like "scanning directly to an email" etc. These are tasks I prefer to do after the file is saved on my PC.Networking the device is simple as is connecting to WiFi. I like it a lot, just a pity about the Nuance garbage software. If you want a device capable of excellent paper handling and fast speed, this is the machine.
