I purchased this replacement for a failed assembly in a 2004 Ford and it was delivered promptly. The old assembly was a difficult task for removal, but once I got it out found that this assembly was just too big in places for it to go inside the fender housing. It took some grinding down of those areas before I could ever get it to fit inside.Now that it is in and installed, the outside door flap which covers the gas tank filler opening does not fit exactly - it protrudes slightly at the bottom and does not fit snugly into the opening.I'll make do with it, but the old floppy one that was in there (OE) actually fit better than this one. After I got the old one removed and reviewed the OE part number, there is a difference so I should have checked that before ordering this product. The part number was on the back of the OE assembly so I could not see it until it was removed.

The replacement part fit as expected. It took a little massaging and a little force to get the housing through the opening in the fender as it was slightly larger than the OEM part but after 5 minutes of working it in to the opening it just popped in. Once in, it bolted right up and fit perfectly. The fit is flush. The whole process took about 20 minutes. Easier installation than I was expecting.
