The gas cap on my Rav 4 stopped opening when I flipped up the release near the steering wheel. The dealership said it could be electronic and I might have to leave it for a few days. I googled “gas cap on my 2020 Rav 4 son’t open and got a youtube that showed me how to open it manually through an access ‘door’ in the rear area; Then it showed me this tiny part. When I took it out I could see that a small plastic piece had broken off. Ordered it and got it the next day, popped it in and problem solved for less than $10 versus the $200 plus the mechanic estimated! Bought an extra one and I won’t be going back to that mechanic.

This replacement spring clip for the RAV4 fuel door fits just like the original. It's an easy fix that restores the function of the fuel door, ensuring it closes securely without any hassle.

Perfect replacement for the one that broke. The original one lasted for 3-4 years. Easy to replace, after watching YouTube. We’ll see how long it lasts. Unfortunately, this is a Toyota design flaw, so I think it will last 2-3 years, since the car was bought in 2020 during Covid with a year of less traveling. It wasn’t that expensive, so it was a great purchase. If it breaks in 2-3 years, maybe there will be a better designed spring that’s just as inexpensive, but so far, this is a great solution.
