Technically speaking, the gorgeous foxtail fern plant is not actually a fern! It is a member of the asparagus family and uses seeds to reproduce. Foxtails are loved for their fun, fluffy upright growth. They can be grown indoors and outdoors depending on your climate. Foxtail ferns have tuberous roots, and because of this system, it is important not to plant your foxtail next to any fragile plants it could possibly choke out.
Your Guide to Foxtail Fern Care
Care: Easy, hardy plant.
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal where your plant receives some morning sun, and avoids the hot afternoon rays. Over winter, if indoors, you may need to provide some direct sunlight in the morning. If placed outdoors, place in a lightly shaded area that avoids sun during the hottest part of the day.
Water: Between waterings, allow the top 3 inches of soil to dry out. The foxtail fern is drought resistant once established. This plant would be perfect over summer!
Temperature: Foxtails like warm/hot weather. It does not tolerate cold temperatures well so make sure to winter indoors and to bring your plant inside once the seasons start to change.
Humidity: If grown indoors make sure to provide your plant some humidity.
Feeding: Fertilize seasonally, once a month during growing season. Foxtail ferns are in need of fertilizer when the needles are light or turning yellow.

I love my foxtail fern! I bought it about a year ago and transplanted it into a large container. I’m in zone 9b and it’s been horribly hot so I have to water him every day and he just keeps growing!

Fern was beautiful on delivery and had one dead shoot in center. Within a few weeks i believe it is unsalvageable. I have a horticultural background and can not figure this out.

This plant arrived gorgeous and lush, exactly like the picture. I put it on my balcony with strong indirect light all day and direct light 2-3 hours a day and, weeks in, it looks just as gorgeous as when it arrived. I just ordered three more and am going to put them in a row in a rectangular planter to hide my ugly air conditioning unit. Though not cheap, everything else is A+ for this plant--couldn't be happier.

I cared for this plant as directed with watering and fertilizer. It’s still dying. I would like a refund or new plant the same.Editing review…. I made direct contact with the seller. Initially they were going to send a replacement which was what I requested. Because my climate is too cold for its health they gave me a refund. You cannot ask for more exceptional service. I highly recommend.

Large , healthy plant professionally potted and packaged. I was actually surprised the quality was so good. Even included extra fertilizer with instructions. Clearly, the seller is a professional and maintains high standards.

When the plant arrived, it was beautiful. I followed all instructions but the majority of it soon turned brown. I cut out the brown parts and moved to a different location. I doubt I would buy this again.
