This was the perfect gang plate for installing my 7.1 setup with a pair of external front speakers and in-wall center and in-ceiling surround speakers. Easy to install and worked perfectly, plus provides a very clean look for my banana plug wires to my AVR.

I purchased this wall plate to connect my side and rear surround sound speakers. The product arrived in an easy to open no fuss box that had everything I needed to start my installation. Just like any wall gang outlet the plates come apart and if you choose you can use one or both.If you only need one for now just pickup a single game outlet cover and this will easily fit. All of the terminals easily unscrew and allow access to a place you can plug your wires in and then clamp them down. For those than enjoy banana plugs, you can even plug them into the back side as well as the front side. In my particular case I wanted to run my Coaxial cable with F-connectors for the subwoofer connection.As this product is sold you have a traditional RCA connection. If you are like me and want the sturdy and unmovable connection of a f-type screw on then you will need to purchase a RCA to FTYPE adapter. I chose to buy this one ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AU3QVKU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )Pros :- Very user friendly- has connections for 5.1- all connections can easily be unscrewed and changed out ( RCA to FTYPE)- Accepts Banana plugs on both ends- Compatible with traditional outlet wall platesCons :- None I could find.

When I bought my house, the previous owner had a bunch of speaker cables hanging out of the wall. Furthermore, these cables were so short that I had to position my sound system to be very close to the wall. On top of all that, the cables were not labeled as to which wire corresponded to which polarity. This product solved all of those issues.I worked with my daughter to determine the polarity of every wire using a D-Cell battery and a multimeter. Once I had that figured out, I could wire it into the back of this plate and never have to think about it again. I was then able to run new speaker wire capped with banana plugs that make plugging speaker into the sound system a cinch!I've included some pictures of the steps I took in my project so that others can have the same kind of success. Just cut out a hole in the drywall on the side of the box opposite of the stud. Then use a low voltage gang extender to turn the 1 gang box into a 2 gang. Since the previous owners used a standard outlet box, I drilled a hole into the side of it to thread the left speaker wires through. I then figured out the polarity of the wires as described in the previous paragraph. Finally, I attached the speakers as appropriate and screwed everything into the wall. I did have a bad cut for my box extension, but that's on me and not this product.

I purchased this after I wired my garage. Easy to hook up as I already purchased additional components to complete the install. if not using a standard 2 gang box be sure to get a low voltage 2 gang bracket in order to secure the Fosman 5.1 or 7.1 cover plate. Banana plugs hold very well on both ends or wire can be inserted and screwed down.

I didn't have huge expectations for this wall plate considering the cost, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Pretty well made, connections are solid enough and there was no noticeable loss of sound quality bearing in mind you are effectively creating a join in the speaker connection when using a wall plate. Note that this product will not fit a standard uk 2 gang back box, I was mounting it straight on to a mdf box inside a cupboard so it wasn't a problem however if you're mounting this on a wall you'll have to source a suitable back box and also double check there is enough depth behind the wall if you are using banana plugs for the back connections. You can connect the wires straight into the plugs front and back by stripping them and clamping with the collars.
