As others have said, the provided hardware is soft/cheap. First thing you should do is take it to your local hardware store and get better replacements for a couple bucks. Next, to make installation easier loosen the screw and push pin for the bumper panel that covers the installation area, this'll make it MUCH easier to reach the upper bolt. Last tip, use a narrow paint scraper to remove any road debris from inside the hitch mount tube to make sure the step bracket lays flat inside the tube.

Much easier to not use included bracket. Just cut the Toyota bracket brace to make room for the device to work. Bolt it on, done. I used their instructions and spent hours ending up not using their bracket. There is a youtube video from an enduser showing how to cut the bracket. I left it on the truck and cut it. When done, step feels a little "soft" but held my weight 220. Looks nice.

Quality product with clear instructions.The included bumper brace is really not required if you just look at the overall engineering. It offers no structural rigidity as it only removes material from the existing bumper brace. They should just include a template to slightly modify the existing brace. I just relieved some existing brace material, filed sharp edges and painted it to allow clearance. Easy Peasy. You will need an impact driver (you could use a 1/2 drive ratchet) to remove the two frame bolts but, overall a pretty easy on the floor of your garage 1 hr. project
