This doesn't come with instructions. But, for the most part is self explanatory. I tested it out from my son's two story window. Not gonna lie, at first I thought I was going to die because of the way it adjusted itself in the window seal after applying my full body weight. But I don't. Once it was done adjusting everything was fine. A super easy get away. Then I tried to climb back up and for whatever reason I realized at this point I'm afraid of heights and so I left it alone.Works perfectly though. Sturdy, strong. Exactly what you'd want from an escape ladder.

I am very impressed by this fire safety ladder! It is very lightweight and compacts into a relatively small storage space it will be very easy to throw under a bed where it won't be in the way but easy to get to a window. It is light enough that a small child could pick it up and carry it if they need to. For the money the peace of mind that this ladder gives you is 100% worth every single penny. The build quality of it feels like you could tow a car it is very solid feeling woven fabric. Feels like it would be able to support my entire household which is five people clearly I wouldn't recommend climbing down multiple people at a time but that's how solid it feels! As for functionality it functions just like you would expect it to. I'm thinking at my house for safety we're going to put eye hook lag bolts into every bedroom window sill behind the mini blinds so that it can be easily deployed from any room in the house you just hook the carabiners to them and drop it out and climb out! The safety that this provides my family is amazing five stars!

Two vertical straps of polyester webbing, in a highly visible fluorescent green, with wooden rungs sewn into polyester tubes at comfortable intervals which can be hung from a window frame using the included carabiners. Check to see that your frame has opportunities to hook the ladder onto — you may need to break out a window or provide hooks or anchor points if the straps cannot be clipped onto or wrapped around something. A 10’ drop will comfortably take you down at least one level easily and, hopefully long enough for a a safe escape from two. Wraps up neatly and easy to store under a bed.

Seems to be well made handled my weight (250) no problem. Hope I never need it, but do practice using it before you need it.

REI sells auto locking carabiner made by Petzl that are rated 7 kilo Newtons (kN), which means each carabiner can support approximately 1,575 pounds. The auto locking feature is a desirable feature because in an emergency you or a loved one may not have the presence of mind to remember or recall that the sleeve of a carabiner with a twist -lock gate needs to be manually twisted to lock the gate shut before the carabiner is used. It's also a good thing to know how much weight a carabiner is rated for if you will be depending on the carabiner to support your weight or the weight of multiple people.
