After a couple of weeks of using this, I've used it so many times that I wonder how I worked without it. Great little tool.

Fast Caps mini magnetic square works great. It's accurate, sturdy and well built. The magnet is strong and the finish on the square is flawless.

Esta pequeña escuadra es muy precisa y funciona por su tamaño muy bien para verificare que algunas uniones estén a escuadra ademas de ser útil para calibrar la sierra de mesa y la sierra de inglete.

I was a little skeptical when I read so many reviewers having issues with accuracy, but you can always return a product if you don't like it. I checked mine against a 1-2-3 block and it is dead square in every direction. I see a lot of reviewers have expressed concerns, so maybe manufacturing issues have been addressed. As with any set up tool, check accuracy for yourself. Never trust something out of the box, and if it doesn't meet your standards, return it. I'll be keeping mine and find it very handy to have around my woodworking tools to check alignment.

I bought this magnetic 4" square for my new Dewalt DWE7491 table saw to check that the blade is 90 degrees to the table. Unfortunately Dewalt doesn't believe in cast iron or even steel table saw tops. I can still check the blade for accuracy, the square just doesn't have anything to stick to. The square itself has very strong magnets. The surfaces are very flat, true and square. The base is wide and has some weight to it so it won't tip over easily on a non-metallic surface. The blade has a scale in inches on the outside for height measurement and the inside for layouts. (Metric on the opposite side.) Both very accurate. The only problem I see is they have cut the blade off at a strange dimension, 4 7/32 inch? It really doesn't harm the 4 inch scale, it's just weird. I will use this square in a lot of places that the magnets will work on like my circular saw and my drill press table.

solid construction. you can feel the weight in itLittle magnets in the bottom are helpful. This is a helping tool not a tool that you use on every aspects of a project.I use it primarily to carry in tool bag where the weight is not an issue and I need something to quickly check 90 on.

Just to add to the reporting of all others: mine just came Dec 1st, 2018, dead square, and made of nice thick metal, with a strong magnetic pull. The base finish is pleasantly ground with a bit of a polish on top and the numbers are cleanly etched. As mentioned elsewhere, there is superficial scratching on the surface of the metal just like it would have probably received with ordinary shop use over a few months (with me anyway). I wonder if they were all kept in a barrel during the packaging process? These scratches are so light that they are of absolutely no concern to me. There was no rust on mine. Like all new tools, I started it out with a light coat of 3-in-1 oil to get ahead of that.

I ordered this Micro Square from Amazon. When I got it, I noticed I was having problems setting up a lathe for 90 degrees. I checked it and found that it wasn't quite square. I contacted cust service through the FastCap website. I was contacted the next day and they sent me out a replacement free of charge. The new one is better, but not perfect. Checking the square by doing the "draw a line, flip, draw a line", from the bottom of the base to vertical is so close to 90 degrees that if it IS off at all, it's less than the width of the line from my fine-point pen. But from the TOP of the base to vertical is off by about 0.7mm over the 4" length of the square. It would be fine for woodworking or rough (like framing carpentry) tool setup. It is not fine enough for me to set the cross slide on my lathe to a perfect 90 degrees. I am giving it 4 stars because of the quick response from customer service and their sincere attempt to keep me happy. You get what you pay for, and while this square is nice, I shouldn't have expected that I would get a one-thousandth-of-an-inch-precise tool for $20.The magnets on the bottom are strong. The fit and finish is nice, but VERY sharp. I think I'll touch the corners with some 400 grit sandpaper, just to make it less likely to lop a finger off. I have several other FastCap products - this is the first time I have been less than 100% satisfied. I'd have no hesitation purchasing any other products they make.

It is all steel, with good magnets on the bottom. The markings are etched in, not ink or paint. I have only used it a couple times, but it is perfect for my needs. It should hold up well as long as I do not abuse or drop it on to concrete. For the price, I am very pleased. I am thinking of getting a second one. I do wish they made a 6'' or 8'' version too, but this small one will be the most used anyway so it is no huge problem.

At the end day, it's a small magnetic square. It does what I want it to do -- it is actually square and it sticks to my cast iron table saw top. I use it to make sure my blade is square before I cut. It's extremely handy for that use. I got it on Izzy Swan's recommendation and I'm very happy I did. A great, inexpensive product.I have read some complaints about the printed numbers coming off. It's irrelevant to me, but it hasn't happened yet. I don't care about the measurements, I care that it's square. But, if mine wear off over time, I will try to remember to update this review just to let you know.
