It is a mush have. It's the only bit we use. It's small and light. He likes it and does not fuss. If they are full of energy and on a roll you can use the rein clips and move them up to the 2nd hole for more control. It is a humane friendly bit.

Bought this bit after a friend had recommended I try it. I have a six year old quarter horse who can be bully mouthed and began crow hopping recently. The second I put this bit in his mouth as I was tacking, he lowered his head and seemed more relaxed than ever. Started our ride and immediately I noticed a HUGE difference. He was focused and listening while being calm and collected. I was able to ride with an incredibly light hand while being completely in control. This bit has been a complete life changer for the two of us. He is riding much better and supple. I use this bit in conjunction with a curb chain and will being using it for years to come. Very happy with this purchase!
