What is ops?
One internal component that you probably don't think of very often is the engine oil pressure sensor. However, the oil pressure sensor is a fundamental part of the internal combustion engine.
It's also sometimes called an oil pressure sending unit or oil pressure switch (OPS). Its purpose is to keep an eye on the oil pressure in your engine. Oil pressure must be kept at certain levels to ensure that oil is reaching all the vital parts of your engine.
why you need change this part
It is important that your vehicle has an engine oil pressure sensor that is working properly. It is installed there for a reason. It is not just there as an extra feature, it is there for a very important purpose. Your car can run without a working engine oil pressure sensor, but it is not recommended that you drive your car knowing that you have a faulty one. It will be a gamble. You won’t be able to ensure that your vehicle will have a safe operation. Even when your vehicle can start and run normally, without a working engine oil pressure sensor, you won’t know the status of your engine oil pressure. You could be driving a car that has low oil pressure or low oil in the system. It can damage your engine or you could even break the motor and it will be very expensive to repair. It is best that you correct the problem right away.
When Should It Be Serviced?
When the oil pressure sensor begins to go bad, it can give erratic readings. These inaccurate readings will trigger your dashboard light. If the light comes on, check your oil level. If it is at the correct level and the engine sounds normal there is a good chance that the sensor is bad.
How It's Done
The oil pressure switch is normally closed. When the ignition is switched on, the oil pressure warning light illuminates. When oil pressure is built up as the engine starts, the switch contact in the oil pressure switch opens and the ground contact for the warning light is interrupted. The warning light goes out.
