I will lead with my singular biggest gripe: fret sprout. A manageable issue, just unfortunate. What follows is mostly praise or neutral commentary.Played, sounded, and felt fine, quite a few online reviewers say the neck is large, chunky and this is true. Saddles were at all kinds of angles but that's a pretty minor thing, easy to adjust.I'm a beginner that travels a lot and carrying around a normal guitar wasn't happening, so I bought this beauty. Taking it apart and putting it back together is easy and pretty intuitive, and the backpack it came with is pretty awesome. Can pack it away alongside a gaming laptop, microphone, headphones, a 3-pound bag of protein powder, first aid kit, and a change of clothes. Very spacious.Plays fine as far as I can tell. Quite a few online reviewers say the neck is large, chunky and this is true. Saddles were at all kinds of angles but that's a pretty minor thing, easy to adjust. String height/action out of the box is on the higher end, over 2mm. Some folks may want to lower it. A little less than $500 with the JENC - 10 bundle I'd say this was an incredible value buy for me. There's no other electric guitar at this price point that can fulfill this niche for less than a grand. Felt like it was made for me.

This arrived extremely well packaged. The backpack and storage system are pretty interesting and ingenious. The backpack is well padded and has room for extra things. The separate components of the guitar are of very good quality. The tuners are outstanding. As is the bridge and the finish on the body. The neck is smooth feeling with a beautiful fingerboard and excellent fret work all around. The nut is kind of superfluous since there's a zero fret, which seems to function well. I was very impressed, then I put the guitar together. Attaching the headstock was easy, but as you can see from photo 6, it wouldn't completely attach. I tried a couple of times with varying amounts of force, but there was still a gap that could be seen and felt. However, that's not a deal breaker since I don't play up the headstock. So, I then attached the body and neck. Seemed simple, but no matter how I tried, I couldn't get the neck pocket tight. You may see the gap in photo 7, but you can definitely see it admits a string package in photo 8. I tried to tighten the turning mechanism with pressure from various angles on the heel and body but no joy. Again, likely not a deal breaker. I can usually get neck pockets perfectly flush with a little work, but I guess the guitars will still play if there's a small gap. Then I played the instrument and it sounds good. The electronics function flawlessly. The pots are smooth. the pickups sound good clean and with overdrive. The push pull functions flawlessly. But the setup was pretty bad. Photo 3 shows one saddle angled because of differently set grub screws on the low E. Just some carelessness. Photo 4 shows the action and that's borderline unplayable. So, I lowered the saddles until the action was good. But then the grub screws were sticking out pretty far. On most bolt on neck guitars I would have shimmed the neck, but that's not an option here. So, you'll probably want to buy some shorter grub screws. And when the action was good, the intonation was much better. So, that's a positive. Finally, I played the guitar for a couple of hours. The biggest sticking point is the neck. It's some type of D shape, but it's chunky feeling. Not my preferred neck shape. it's got the PRS-like 25 inch scale and the Gibson nut width, but not the slim taper D neck carve of the Gibson. The fretboard is a 16 inch radius, which I actually like. But I'm not a fan of the thicker neck. If you have large hands and like a little more meat on the neck, then you'll probably like it more than me. And there is the issue of the blockiness of the neck heel/guitar body joint, which makes it difficult to play the upper frets. Overall, this guitar is a bit of a disappointment for me. It looks simply beautiful. And it's a very nice 7.4 pounds. I had great hopes for it, but the idea seems to be a bit better than the execution.
