Very economical fix to Volvo pvc failure. Dealer wanted hundreds of dollars, new valve cover was $170 but this was dirt cheap and fairly easy fix.

Fits perfectly and the loud whistling has stopped. There could have been instructions on how to get the old one off. I used a small flathead screwdriver to snap the catches off and a rubber mallet to set the new one in place.

Instead of replacing the whole oil trap on the Volvo 3.2 engine, this was just easier and cheaper. It took me 5 minutes to take off the old PCV diaphragm and put the new one on. As expected, the original had a tear on the rubber. The factory one made it to 199,248 miles! Volvo for Life

I only had to break the original cap on four tabs. Small flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet. The whole process took about ten minutes. The photo is the dead one. If your car starts whistling and you're getting bank 1 and bank 2 too lean messages, this is probably the culprit. I might even keep one on hand in the Volvo Spares box

Like others, I had difficulty getting this down and completely snapped on.I finally decided to enlarge the holes in the cap a little ( less than 1mm ). It's on now and I'm hoping that it stays.

It was worth the wait to have this sent to me from Amazon. Saved $$ and it fits as expected. I replaced a worn/tore PCV diaphragm on my Volvo XC70 T6 (3.0 6cyl). You can see in the pictures where I had to take a large slotted screwdriver and break the old cap slots to lift the part out. I only had to break like 2 and was able to work it off with my hands. Was not surprised to find the tear in the old part which was causing engine noise & vacuum issues. Where others had a hard time putting the top on, I did not. Everything fit in place and I was able to push all the slots into their pole pieces all around by hand. Been driving the car and no engine noise, and no large amount of vacuum suction when I take the oil filler cap off, or pull the oil dipstick like was happening before I installed this replacement part. BTW, that's how you can confirm if you need this part beforehand.

PCV valve was the cause as it created a whistling sound. Quick method to check leave car on and try to unscrew the oil cap off , I was not able to , now turn the car off unscrew the oil filter cap and turn on the car , the car should stop making the high pitch sound . If this is the case it’s the pcv valve . Unfortunately Volvo only sells the complete until so I gave this a try .. Best way to brake off the old tabs was to use a tiny screw driver set you can buy from the dollar store. Place the screw driver on the old PCV valve tabs and use a hammer or rubber mallet to hit it downwards, this will break the tab off, I managed to break three tabs then pried the PCV valve off .Prior to the install I lined up the tabs from the cap to make it easier for it to snap in place ..I Hand-pressed the cap and am golden

I have a 2011 Volvo s80 3.2 engine, despite being told it will fit on other websites as well it does not.To remove the original it will break so you can't put it back on. After removing my original with 120k mi. as someone recommended, ( youtube video) there was nothing wrong with it. Then I find out you can't buy the original part alone, you have to buy the whole cover which is over $266.00. My advise is don't change it if the car runs fine. Now this Dorman replacement would not lock down, no matter how hard I press on it. So I had no choice but to file down the slots so it will go down enough to snap in place. Then I thought problem solved but no, after starting it made a gasping sound that would not go away. So I had to carefully remove it without breaking the plastic and put the original rubber diaphragm and spring back . Now it's fine, what a waste of time and money, I regret touching it, so take my advise if your car is running fine leave it alone.

So I got this to quickly fix my brother's xc60. It seemed like an easy install. Break the visible tabs on the original cover and remove. Then install. Well I couldn't get the new cap to click down on all the tabs. So it wasn't secure. I tried multiple times and ways. I fought it for a long time. But finally my brother needed to take his car back.I had, after easily 20 attempts to install, got to a point I thought it was on all tabs. Also, I don't have a cheap scanner but every time I erased the codes, they came back, almost right away.So I told my brother, drive gently and we will fix it in a few days. 3 days later, he told me the light was off and it's never came back!!So my advice, make sure the cap fits tight and if the code doesn't go away with your scan tool, just drive it!!This part works but for me it wasn't easy to get installed

The alternative is to replace the complete oil separator box for more than 200CAD, when this part is the actual issue and the rest of the separator is a passive part of the system. It is simple to install, measured in seconds. The old unit doesn't like coming off without breaking off the mounting tabs, but the new one just snaps on.This got rid of a chirping noise, high crank case vacuum, plus it smoothed out the shifts of the transmission when cold (the transmission computer uses manifold vacuum???).

Excelente calidad de repuesto. Idéntico a la pieza original sin tener que reemplazar todo el PCV. Después de 130,000kms, el diafragma original estaba roto y se encendía la luz de motor con el código P0420
